Task 1:
1. Each group will be given a pack of cards
2. The cards contain the names of 5 different

What are they:
A written or printed work of fiction or fact.
May be electronic.
Good for:

6. Web pages
What are they:
An information resource which can be
easily created by anyone on any topic.
Electronic.

7. Newspapers
What are they:
A regular publication containing current events,

“You should prepare one case report of no more than 1000 words.
The following module outcomes must be addressed in order to pass this piece of work:
• Summarise codes of practice and legislation in relation to protection of animal welfare.
• Identify factors affecting health of patients and describe basic clinical assessment and
management of animals.
• Discuss and utilise models of nursing and apply principles of the nursing process.
A two year old Dutch Rabbit has been brought into the surgery suffering from fly strike.
• Summarise the key legislation, codes of practice and the duties of care/five needs that may
be relevant to the welfare of the animal in this case.
• Identify factors that may affect the health of this patient and describe how this may be
clinically assessed.
• Discuss the possible nursing care and management this patient may require.
• Select a model of care and nursing care plan suitable for use to assist in the nursing of this
patient and explain the rationale for your choice.
• Complete and submit a simulated nursing care plan and discuss the key points arising from
this plan.
• Describe the key points you would make in order to educate the owner to prevent further
occurrence and maximise the health and welfare of the rabbit in the future.”
