ENVIRONMENT MANGEMENT
INTRODUCTION
 Environmentally friendly initiatives are primarily selfless in
nature, they offer additional benefits such as allowing
companies to build better reputations among their like-minded
customers.
 In recent years, terms like "going green" and "eco-friendly"
have become buzz words on talk shows, commercials and
product packaging.
 The term "eco-friendly" has been used for so many different
products and practices, its meaning is in danger of being lost.
 By incorporating eco-friendly practices into your business you
are helping the bottom line as well as the environment.
ECO FRIENDLY
 Earth friendly / environment friendly
 The products that contribute to green living or practice that
help conserve resources like water and energy.
 Eco-friendly / environmentally friendly,
are sustainability and marketing terms referring to goods
and services, laws, guidelines and policies
that claim reduced, minimal, or no harm
upon ecosystems or the environment.
 You can engage in eco-friendly habits or practices by being
more conscious of how you use resources.
Product Qualification
 Making a truly eco-friendly product keeps both environmental and
human safety in mind.
 At a minimum, the product is non-toxic. Other eco-friendly attributes
include the use of sustainably grown or raised ingredients, produced
in ways that do not deplete the ecosystem.
 Organic ingredients or materials are grown without toxic pesticides
or herbicides.
 Products with "made from recycled materials" contain glass, wood,
metal or plastic reclaimed from waste products and made into
something new.
 Biodegradable products break down through natural decomposition,
which is less taxing on landfills and the ecosystem as a whole.
Green-washing
 Green-washing (a compound word modelled on "whitewash"),
also called "green sheen“.
 It is a form of spin in which green PR or green marketing is
deceptively used to promote the perception that an organization's
products, aims or policies are environmentally friendly.
 Evidence that an organization is green-washing often comes from
pointing out the spending differences:
when significantly more money or time has been spent
advertising being "green" (that is, operating with consideration
for the environment), than is actually spent on environmentally
sound practices.
Eco-labels
 Eco-labels and Green Stickers are labelling systems for food and
consumer products.
 Eco-labels are voluntary, but green stickers are mandated by law
(e.g. using energy star in major appliances and automobiles).
 Some labels quantify pollution or energy consumption by way of
index scores or units of measurement
 While others assert compliance with a set of practices or
minimum requirements for sustainability or reduction of harm to
the environment.
 Eco-labelling systems exist for both food and consumer
products.
Green trading
 Green trading encompasses all forms of environmental financial
trading, including carbon dioxide, sulphur dioxide (acid rain), nitrogen
oxide (ozone), renewable energy credits, and energy efficiency
(megawatts).
 All these emerging and established environmental financial markets
have one thing in common, which is making profits in the emerging
emissions offset economy by investing in "clean technology".
 Green Trading claims to accelerate change to a cleaner environment
by using market-based incentives whose application is global.
 Bad energy practices that they cannot eliminate, they may offset;
knowing that they are funding projects that are actively developing
cleaner energy practices and increasing energy efficiency for the
future.
Green products
 The products or services whose manufacturing ,
purchase and use allows economic development,
while still conserving for future generations.
 Such a product or service do not pollute the earth
or abort natural resources
 Such a product or service are bio degradable , can
be recycled and are eco-friendly.
Green pdts- Characteristics
 Products are originally grown.
 Products those are recyclable ,reusable and biodegradable.
 Products with natural ingredients.
 Products contain recycled contents ,non- toxic chemical.
 Products contain under approved chemical.
 Products do not harm or pollute the environment.
 Products that is not tasted on animals.
 Products that have eco-friendly packaging i.e. reusable
,refillable containers etc.
Green brands
 Green brands are
those brands that consumers associate
with environmental conservation and sustainable
business practices.
 Such brands appeal to consumers who are becoming
more aware of the need to protect the environment.
 However, if a company is found or perceived to
overstate its green practices its green brand may be
criticised as green-wash.
Some of the green brands in India
6 ECO-FRIENDLY BRANDS THAT WILL
INSPIRE YOU TO GO GREEN
The company produces a
variety of laundry detergents,
soaps, and other cleaning
products, as well as baby
diapers, wipes, and more –
and all in an environmentally
conscious way.

Patagonia is known for their
durable outerwear. The most
admirable about the
company is that they own up
to the fact that not all of their
products or processes are
entirely eco-friendly.
6 ECO-FRIENDLY BRANDS THAT WILL
INSPIRE YOU TO GO GREEN
One of the largest chocolate
manufacturers in the world. As a company
that relies heavily on a product grown
naturally around the world, The Hershey
Company makes environmentally-friendly
practices top priority. From their
manufacturing and distribution centres to
their hotel and amusement park in
Hershey, PA, the company has sought out
as many ways as possible to keep their
sustainability efforts in check.
Furniture and home goods giant IKEA utilizes
a variety of renewable energy sources and
waste management tactics to give back to our
planet. Through their sustainability strategy
called “People & Planet Positive,” they believe
that consumers shouldn’t have to choose
between design, functionality, price, or
sustainability when purchasing a product.
Their product lines are not only manufactured
through eco-friendly practices, but they
encourage customers to live a more
environmentally conscious lifestyle.

6 ECO-FRIENDLY BRANDS THAT WILL
INSPIRE YOU TO GO GREEN

Another high-profile brand, Keurig Green
Mountain also realizes that its efforts to go
green are still a work in progress. From an
environmental standpoint, Keurig brewing
systems are much more eco-friendly than
traditional coffee makers due to the lack
of wasted water. With a regular home or
office coffee pot, 12-15% of a batch of
coffee tends to be wasted; but with a
Keurig, you can brew individual cups as
needed so there’s no waste.
Among these brands, Johnson &
Johnson seems to be the most heavily-
focused on internal operations to make
sure sustainable practices are being
adhered to. The company’s Environment,
Health, Safety, & Sustainability
department monitors performance and
compliance, and sets strict sustainability
standards for the company.
Sustainable products
 Sustainable products are those products that
provide environmental, social and economic
benefits
 While protecting public
health and environment over their whole life cycle,
from the extraction of raw materials until the final
disposal.
ECO FRIENDLY MANUFACTURING
 Protects the planet from exploitation and conserves
natural resources.
 Products are made from sustainable materials ,
while waste is reduced through manufacturing,
reuse and recycle.
 Being eco-friendly can reduce a business' costs
through reduced energy use.
 Environmental pollution in manufacturing sectors.
Green factories
 The environmental health and safety, engineers
make sure that factories adhere to environmental
regulations through factory inspections.
 These eco-friendly manufacturing processes help
factories produce goods using the most
environmentally friendly method possible.
 An eco-friendly process is dependent on how and
what a factory produces.
Environmentally conscious companies
 Currently, many companies are now pledging to go
green.
 Being an environmentally conscious
company builds better reputations with consumers.
 For instance, Philips Electronics assures its
consumers that they will increase their energy
efficiency in their production processes by
producing more LED lights instead of incandescent
and fluorescent bulbs.
Environmentally friendly production
 Making manufacturing processes more eco-friendly
saves natural resources.
 Using renewable energy in manufacturing can offer
tax breaks and incentives for businesses.
 Sunlight, wind, rain, and water waves are some
natural sources of energy for powering certain
manufacturing processes.
 Proper disposal wastes.
Steps in eco-friendly manufacturing
process
 Energy Audit : Conduct an energy audit to find where improvements can
are necessary
 Renewable Energy : Use renewable energy. Renewable energy is energy
generated from resources that are replenished naturally, such as
sunlight, wind, rain, tides, biomass and geothermal heat.
 Waste Reduction : Make use of leftovers, dispose of them properly or
remove them from your manufacturing process altogether.
 Conserve Water : Implement a water-efficiency program to conserve
water and to save money on buying, heating, treating and disposing of
water.
 Other considerations : “Eco-friendly" products are made of
environmentally-friendly materials, including recycled materials or "rapid
renewables,"
ECO-FRIENDLY PACKAGING
 One of the most common disposable items in a
landfill is a product’s packaging.
 Harmful items to dispose in a landfill.
 Using recyclable packaging can be reused to create
new items.
 Recycling product packaging can also save you
money from buying new products such as reusing
plastic bottles.
Definition
“Eco-friendly packaging is easily recycled, and is
safe for individuals and the environment. It makes
use of renewable energy, and uses as much
renewable or recycled materials as possible “
Contd.
 Eco packaging causes less damage to the
environment than other types of packaging due to
falling in to one of 3 possible categories:
1. It can be reused
2. It can be recycled
3. It’s biodegradable
EPA Encouragement
 The Environmental Protection Agency encourages
companies to move toward eco-friendly packaging and
has many online resources to help businesses make
the transition.
 The bottom line is that eco-friendly packaging is not
merely recyclable or made from recycled products -- it
also in general uses fewer resources overall.
For example, making packages with higher recycled
content reduces deforestation; making them smaller
requires fewer shipping trucks, saving fuel.
Consumer popularity
 According to the New York Times,
‘consumers are rewarding this environmental attention to
product packaging. Businesses small and large are paying
attention, with major industries forging coalitions to help one
another reduce packaging waste.’
Why Use Environmental Friendly
Packaging?
 Looking out for the future of our environment is the
primary reason to use environmentally friendly
packaging.
 We should all be aware of the impact of our actions on
the environment around us, and take some
responsibility for those actions.
 Consumers are embracing green and sustainable
practices, and some research has even shown that
a move to sustainable packaging can generate more
sales.
Which Packaging Materials are Economic
Friendly?
 some of the most popular packaging materials are,
1. Paper
2. Glass
3. Cardboard
4. Biodegradable Plastics (made from cellulose)
5. Plant Starch Material (PSM)
 Some items may be eco-friendly because they can be
recycled or reused, others may naturally decompose.
Eco-packaging solutions
 Eco Packaging Bags : Biodegradable clear bags
 Eco Packaging Boxes : Boxes that are made from
recyclable materials.
 Eco Protective Padding : Replacement your usual
padding with packing peanuts made from corn or other
plant starch. Alternative use of recycled paper or recycled
tissue.
 Eco Packaging Tape : Tape made from recycled paper. It
also uses a latex based adhesive that’s strong enough to
seal your boxes securely.
GREEN MARKETING
 The holistic management of identifying , anticipating and
satisfying the requirements of customers and society in a
profitable and sustainable way.
 Requirements,
1. Production process compatible with the environment.
2. Compatible with company’s goals
3. Satisfy the customer’s need
4. Need to find a balance between these requirements
GREEN MKTNG- Definition
According to the American Marketing Association (AMA), there
is 3 way definition
 Retailing Definition : The marketing of products that are
presumed to be environmentally safe.
 Social Marketing Definition : The development and
marketing of products designed to minimize negative effects
on the physical environment or to improve its quality.
 Environment Definition :The efforts by organizations to
produce , promote , package ,and reclaim products in a
manner that is sensitive or responsive to ecological
concerns.
GREEN MKTNG - History
 Late 1980’s: Green marketing beginning
 1987 : Sustainable development concept
 1992& 1993 : Green Marketing reference book by
Ken Peattie then Jacquelyn Ottman
 Environment issues should be balanced with
primary customer needs
The 3 R’S of Environmentalism
 REDUCE the amount of
waste you produce
 REUSE old items; donate to
the unfortunate repair if
broken.
 RECYCLE as much as
possible ; buy recycled
products to support
recycling.
The 4 P’s of Marketing
 Green product : Attributes such as energy
saving, organic etc. that leads to reduction in
resource consumption and pollution.
Contd.
 Green price : Most consumers will pay additional
value if there is a perception of extra product value.
 Green place : Aiming to reduce carbon footprint by
ways of managing logistics to cut down transport
emanations.
 Green promotion : To address the relationship
between a product and the environment, to promote
green life style, and to present a corporate image of
environmental responsibility.
Benefits of Green Marketing
 It ensures sustained and long term growth along
with profitability
 It saves money in long run, through initially the
cost is more
 It helps the companies market their products and
services keeping the environment aspects in mind
CRADLE TO CRADLE
 Also referred to as Cradle to Cradle, C2C, cradle 2 cradle,
or regenerative design.
 It is a biomimetic approach to the design of products and
systems
 It models human industry on nature's processes viewing
materials as nutrients circulating in healthy, safe metabolisms.
 The term itself is a play on the popular corporate phrase "Cradle
to Grave,“
 It implying that the C2C model is sustainable and considerate of
life and future generations (i.e. from the birth, or "cradle," of one
generation to the next versus from birth to death, or "grave,"
within the same generation.)
ENVIRONMENTAL ENTERPRISE
 Environmentally friendly/compatible business.
 A business that produces value in the same manner which
an ecosystem does, neither producing waste nor consuming
unsustainable resources.
 Finds alternative ways to produce one’s products instead of taking
advantage of animals for the sake of human profits.
 Develop or improve their technologies which are also
environmentally friendly.
 Bring positive effects both for nature and people.
 Examples of environmental enterprise would be Seventh Generation,
Inc., and Whole Foods.
ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
 A practice of protecting the natural environment on
individual, organization controlled on governmental
levels.
 Due to the pressures of overconsumption,
population and technology, the biophysical
environment is being degraded, sometimes
permanently.
GREEN FESTIVALS
 Founded in 2002, Green Festivals is a zero-waste event, with
over one million attendees.
 Largest and longest-running sustainability event in the United
States.
 Brings together the world’s most trusted companies,
innovative brands, national and local businesses, pioneering
thinkers and consumers, in one dynamic marketplace to share
solutions for living healthier, more sustainable lives.
 Green Festival events are taking place in five cities in 2017
(New York City, Washington, D.C., San Francisco and Los
Angeles, and Ft. Lauderdale. Past festival locations include
Austin, Seattle, Chicago and Denver)
ENVIRONMENTAL CHOICE PROGRAM
 An eco-labelling scheme that was established by
Environment Canada in 1988 with over 300 categories of
products.
 It help consumers identify services/products which are less
harmful to the environment.
 The "Environmental Choice" EcoLogo symbol of certification
is three intertwined doves within a green coloured maple leaf.
 EcoLogo provides customers – public, corporate and
consumer – with assurance that the products and services
bearing the logo meet stringent environmental standards that
have been verified by a third party auditor.
CONCLUSION
 Eco-friendly business, eco-friendly manufacturing, eco-
friendly packaging and green marketing are also a new
addition to the environmental consideration.
 Mutually beneficial connections among industry, natural
systems, energy, material and local communities become
central factors in designing industrial production processes.
 Imperative to search for new building solutions that
are environmentally friendly and lead to a reduction in the
consumption of materials and energy.

Eco-Friendly Manufacturing and Sustainable Business Practices

  • 2. Eco-Friendly Manufacturing and Packaging & Eco-Friendly Business ENVIRONMENT MANGEMENT
  • 3.
  • 4. INTRODUCTION  Environmentally friendly initiatives are primarily selfless in nature, they offer additional benefits such as allowing companies to build better reputations among their like-minded customers.  In recent years, terms like "going green" and "eco-friendly" have become buzz words on talk shows, commercials and product packaging.  The term "eco-friendly" has been used for so many different products and practices, its meaning is in danger of being lost.  By incorporating eco-friendly practices into your business you are helping the bottom line as well as the environment.
  • 5. ECO FRIENDLY  Earth friendly / environment friendly  The products that contribute to green living or practice that help conserve resources like water and energy.  Eco-friendly / environmentally friendly, are sustainability and marketing terms referring to goods and services, laws, guidelines and policies that claim reduced, minimal, or no harm upon ecosystems or the environment.  You can engage in eco-friendly habits or practices by being more conscious of how you use resources.
  • 6. Product Qualification  Making a truly eco-friendly product keeps both environmental and human safety in mind.  At a minimum, the product is non-toxic. Other eco-friendly attributes include the use of sustainably grown or raised ingredients, produced in ways that do not deplete the ecosystem.  Organic ingredients or materials are grown without toxic pesticides or herbicides.  Products with "made from recycled materials" contain glass, wood, metal or plastic reclaimed from waste products and made into something new.  Biodegradable products break down through natural decomposition, which is less taxing on landfills and the ecosystem as a whole.
  • 7. Green-washing  Green-washing (a compound word modelled on "whitewash"), also called "green sheen“.  It is a form of spin in which green PR or green marketing is deceptively used to promote the perception that an organization's products, aims or policies are environmentally friendly.  Evidence that an organization is green-washing often comes from pointing out the spending differences: when significantly more money or time has been spent advertising being "green" (that is, operating with consideration for the environment), than is actually spent on environmentally sound practices.
  • 8. Eco-labels  Eco-labels and Green Stickers are labelling systems for food and consumer products.  Eco-labels are voluntary, but green stickers are mandated by law (e.g. using energy star in major appliances and automobiles).  Some labels quantify pollution or energy consumption by way of index scores or units of measurement  While others assert compliance with a set of practices or minimum requirements for sustainability or reduction of harm to the environment.  Eco-labelling systems exist for both food and consumer products.
  • 9. Green trading  Green trading encompasses all forms of environmental financial trading, including carbon dioxide, sulphur dioxide (acid rain), nitrogen oxide (ozone), renewable energy credits, and energy efficiency (megawatts).  All these emerging and established environmental financial markets have one thing in common, which is making profits in the emerging emissions offset economy by investing in "clean technology".  Green Trading claims to accelerate change to a cleaner environment by using market-based incentives whose application is global.  Bad energy practices that they cannot eliminate, they may offset; knowing that they are funding projects that are actively developing cleaner energy practices and increasing energy efficiency for the future.
  • 10. Green products  The products or services whose manufacturing , purchase and use allows economic development, while still conserving for future generations.  Such a product or service do not pollute the earth or abort natural resources  Such a product or service are bio degradable , can be recycled and are eco-friendly.
  • 11. Green pdts- Characteristics  Products are originally grown.  Products those are recyclable ,reusable and biodegradable.  Products with natural ingredients.  Products contain recycled contents ,non- toxic chemical.  Products contain under approved chemical.  Products do not harm or pollute the environment.  Products that is not tasted on animals.  Products that have eco-friendly packaging i.e. reusable ,refillable containers etc.
  • 12. Green brands  Green brands are those brands that consumers associate with environmental conservation and sustainable business practices.  Such brands appeal to consumers who are becoming more aware of the need to protect the environment.  However, if a company is found or perceived to overstate its green practices its green brand may be criticised as green-wash.
  • 13. Some of the green brands in India
  • 14. 6 ECO-FRIENDLY BRANDS THAT WILL INSPIRE YOU TO GO GREEN The company produces a variety of laundry detergents, soaps, and other cleaning products, as well as baby diapers, wipes, and more – and all in an environmentally conscious way. 1. 2. Patagonia is known for their durable outerwear. The most admirable about the company is that they own up to the fact that not all of their products or processes are entirely eco-friendly.
  • 15. 6 ECO-FRIENDLY BRANDS THAT WILL INSPIRE YOU TO GO GREEN One of the largest chocolate manufacturers in the world. As a company that relies heavily on a product grown naturally around the world, The Hershey Company makes environmentally-friendly practices top priority. From their manufacturing and distribution centres to their hotel and amusement park in Hershey, PA, the company has sought out as many ways as possible to keep their sustainability efforts in check. Furniture and home goods giant IKEA utilizes a variety of renewable energy sources and waste management tactics to give back to our planet. Through their sustainability strategy called “People & Planet Positive,” they believe that consumers shouldn’t have to choose between design, functionality, price, or sustainability when purchasing a product. Their product lines are not only manufactured through eco-friendly practices, but they encourage customers to live a more environmentally conscious lifestyle. 3. 4.
  • 16. 6 ECO-FRIENDLY BRANDS THAT WILL INSPIRE YOU TO GO GREEN 5. 6. Another high-profile brand, Keurig Green Mountain also realizes that its efforts to go green are still a work in progress. From an environmental standpoint, Keurig brewing systems are much more eco-friendly than traditional coffee makers due to the lack of wasted water. With a regular home or office coffee pot, 12-15% of a batch of coffee tends to be wasted; but with a Keurig, you can brew individual cups as needed so there’s no waste. Among these brands, Johnson & Johnson seems to be the most heavily- focused on internal operations to make sure sustainable practices are being adhered to. The company’s Environment, Health, Safety, & Sustainability department monitors performance and compliance, and sets strict sustainability standards for the company.
  • 17. Sustainable products  Sustainable products are those products that provide environmental, social and economic benefits  While protecting public health and environment over their whole life cycle, from the extraction of raw materials until the final disposal.
  • 18. ECO FRIENDLY MANUFACTURING  Protects the planet from exploitation and conserves natural resources.  Products are made from sustainable materials , while waste is reduced through manufacturing, reuse and recycle.  Being eco-friendly can reduce a business' costs through reduced energy use.  Environmental pollution in manufacturing sectors.
  • 19. Green factories  The environmental health and safety, engineers make sure that factories adhere to environmental regulations through factory inspections.  These eco-friendly manufacturing processes help factories produce goods using the most environmentally friendly method possible.  An eco-friendly process is dependent on how and what a factory produces.
  • 20. Environmentally conscious companies  Currently, many companies are now pledging to go green.  Being an environmentally conscious company builds better reputations with consumers.  For instance, Philips Electronics assures its consumers that they will increase their energy efficiency in their production processes by producing more LED lights instead of incandescent and fluorescent bulbs.
  • 21. Environmentally friendly production  Making manufacturing processes more eco-friendly saves natural resources.  Using renewable energy in manufacturing can offer tax breaks and incentives for businesses.  Sunlight, wind, rain, and water waves are some natural sources of energy for powering certain manufacturing processes.  Proper disposal wastes.
  • 22. Steps in eco-friendly manufacturing process  Energy Audit : Conduct an energy audit to find where improvements can are necessary  Renewable Energy : Use renewable energy. Renewable energy is energy generated from resources that are replenished naturally, such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, biomass and geothermal heat.  Waste Reduction : Make use of leftovers, dispose of them properly or remove them from your manufacturing process altogether.  Conserve Water : Implement a water-efficiency program to conserve water and to save money on buying, heating, treating and disposing of water.  Other considerations : “Eco-friendly" products are made of environmentally-friendly materials, including recycled materials or "rapid renewables,"
  • 23. ECO-FRIENDLY PACKAGING  One of the most common disposable items in a landfill is a product’s packaging.  Harmful items to dispose in a landfill.  Using recyclable packaging can be reused to create new items.  Recycling product packaging can also save you money from buying new products such as reusing plastic bottles.
  • 24. Definition “Eco-friendly packaging is easily recycled, and is safe for individuals and the environment. It makes use of renewable energy, and uses as much renewable or recycled materials as possible “
  • 25. Contd.  Eco packaging causes less damage to the environment than other types of packaging due to falling in to one of 3 possible categories: 1. It can be reused 2. It can be recycled 3. It’s biodegradable
  • 26. EPA Encouragement  The Environmental Protection Agency encourages companies to move toward eco-friendly packaging and has many online resources to help businesses make the transition.  The bottom line is that eco-friendly packaging is not merely recyclable or made from recycled products -- it also in general uses fewer resources overall. For example, making packages with higher recycled content reduces deforestation; making them smaller requires fewer shipping trucks, saving fuel.
  • 27. Consumer popularity  According to the New York Times, ‘consumers are rewarding this environmental attention to product packaging. Businesses small and large are paying attention, with major industries forging coalitions to help one another reduce packaging waste.’
  • 28. Why Use Environmental Friendly Packaging?  Looking out for the future of our environment is the primary reason to use environmentally friendly packaging.  We should all be aware of the impact of our actions on the environment around us, and take some responsibility for those actions.  Consumers are embracing green and sustainable practices, and some research has even shown that a move to sustainable packaging can generate more sales.
  • 29. Which Packaging Materials are Economic Friendly?  some of the most popular packaging materials are, 1. Paper 2. Glass 3. Cardboard 4. Biodegradable Plastics (made from cellulose) 5. Plant Starch Material (PSM)  Some items may be eco-friendly because they can be recycled or reused, others may naturally decompose.
  • 30. Eco-packaging solutions  Eco Packaging Bags : Biodegradable clear bags  Eco Packaging Boxes : Boxes that are made from recyclable materials.  Eco Protective Padding : Replacement your usual padding with packing peanuts made from corn or other plant starch. Production process compatible with the environment. 2. Compatible with company’s goals 3. Satisfy the customer’s need 4. Need to find a balance between these requirements
  • 32. GREEN MKTNG- Definition According to the American Marketing Association (AMA), there is 3 way definition  Retailing Definition : The marketing of products that are presumed to be environmentally safe.  Social Marketing Definition : The development and marketing of products designed to minimize negative effects on the physical environment or to improve its quality.  Environment Definition :The efforts by organizations to produce , promote , package ,and reclaim products in a manner that is sensitive or responsive to ecological concerns.
  • 33. GREEN MKTNG - History  Late 1980’s: Green marketing beginning  1987 : Sustainable development concept  1992& 1993 : Green Marketing reference book by Ken Peattie then Jacquelyn Ottman  Environment issues should be balanced with primary customer needs
  • 34. The 3 R’S of Environmentalism  REDUCE the amount of waste you produce  REUSE old items; donate to the unfortunate repair if broken.  RECYCLE as much as possible ; buy recycled products to support recycling.
  • 35. The 4 P’s of Marketing  Green product : Attributes such as energy saving, organic etc. that leads to reduction in resource consumption and pollution.
  • 36. Contd.  Green price : Most consumers will pay additional value if there is a perception of extra product value.  Green place : Aiming to reduce carbon footprint by ways of managing logistics to cut down transport emanations.  Green promotion : To address the relationship between a product and the environment, to promote green life style, and to present a corporate image of environmental responsibility.
  • 37. Benefits of Green Marketing  It ensures sustained and long term growth along with profitability  It saves money in long run, through initially the cost is more  It helps the companies market their products and services keeping the environment aspects in mind
  • 38. CRADLE TO CRADLE  Also referred to as Cradle to Cradle, C2C, cradle 2 cradle, or regenerative design.  It is a biomimetic approach to the design of products and systems  It models human industry on nature's processes viewing materials as nutrients circulating in healthy, safe metabolisms.  The term itself is a play on the popular corporate phrase "Cradle to Grave,“  It implying that the C2C model is sustainable and considerate of life and future generations (i.e. from the birth, or "cradle," of one generation to the next versus from birth to death, or "grave," within the same generation.)
  • 39. ENVIRONMENTAL ENTERPRISE  Environmentally friendly/compatible business.  A business that produces value in the same manner which an ecosystem does, neither producing waste nor consuming unsustainable resources.  Finds alternative ways to produce one’s products instead of taking advantage of animals for the sake of human profits.  Develop or improve their technologies which are also environmentally friendly.  Bring positive effects both for nature and people.  Examples of environmental enterprise would be Seventh Generation, Inc., and Whole Foods.
  • 40. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION  A practice of protecting the natural environment on individual, organization controlled on governmental levels.  Due to the pressures of overconsumption, population and technology, the biophysical environment is being degraded, sometimes permanently.
  • 41. GREEN FESTIVALS  Founded in 2002, Green Festivals is a zero-waste event, with over one million attendees.  Largest and longest-running sustainability event in the United States.  Brings together the world’s most trusted companies, innovative brands, national and local businesses, pioneering thinkers and consumers, in one dynamic marketplace to share solutions for living healthier, more sustainable lives.  Green Festival events are taking place in five cities in 2017 (New York City, Washington, D.C., San Francisco and Los Angeles, and Ft.
