2. The Galaxy Note 7 - Fiasco
The year 2016 was a very bad year for
Samsung. The year saw the sales of Samsung
devices drop by a significant number and also
affecting their overall credibility.
The main reason was the exploding batteries
of the then newly launched Galaxy Note 7,
where many devices caught fire due to a faulty
battery design.
3. Booths were set up in airports to prevent people
attempting to board a plane with the potential fire
hazard.
Software updates were rolled out that prevented
the Note 7 charging beyond 30 percent, and the
company tried everything it could think of to take
the Note 7 out of circulation.
But for those who were insistent on continuing to
use the Galaxy Note 7, it will come as good news
that Samsung is going to reintroduce the
refurbished versions of the handset to the
smartphone market
4. The New Note 7- Samsung Galaxy Note 7R
If rumours are to be believed, then Samsung is
working on the refurbished model of Galaxy Note 7,
and will be called Galaxy Note 7R.
It will be sold at half the price of the original.
While this information is still to be officially
confirmed, a Chinese e-commerce website has
reportedly listed the Galaxy Note 7R on sale at a price
range of CNY 3,599-3,999 (roughly 1915 -2128 AED
).
5. We don’t have all the details on the new Note 7 quite
yet, but a set of documents released by the FCC
prove that it’s very much a real thing.
The FCC documents, which are necessary for any
wireless device to be certified for use or sale in the
US, only confirm that this is some kind of new Note 7.
We know that because the model number is similar,
and Samsung itself declares that the wireless radios
are “identical in implementation to
a3LSMN930KOR.” That’s the FCC ID of the original
Galaxy Note 7.
6. What is the difference?
The main specifications of the phone will remain essentially the same though.
The device will house the Samsung Exynos CPU, 4 Gigabytes of RAM along with a
12MP primary camera and 5MP secondary one.
We’re expecting the battery to be kept around 3000mAh this time; the battery
will be fast charging supportive though.
The original metal and glass body has been retained with a 5.7” QHD 2K dual-
edge curved display.
The Note 7R will be shipped with Android 7.0 Nougat installed; the Note 7 came
with Android v6.0.1 Marshmallow.
7. Price and Launch
In terms of pricing, the device is likely to be placed below 2290 AED which is still a
good price for the device.
It will be launched in South Korea, the home grounds of Samsung initially and then
based upon the response there, it will launch the device in China, India, UAE, Europe
and then the rest of the world.
However, it will, in all probability, avoid the US market which was one of the major
epicenters of the tragic fiasco.
8. Conclusion
Whatever may be the case, we’ll get to see the Note 7R falling into hands of users
before the Note 8 does.
Probably Samsung is delaying the launch of Note 8 to make room for the Note 7R.
We would love to get our hands on the device and test it out as the device initially
did not even get a chance to impress its shine before having to go to the graveyard.
Best wishes to Samsung.
