InDesign Server is the exact same
application as desktop InDesign, but
controlled by code instead of a UI.
It uses templates built in desktop
Adobe InDesign.
It can save out INDD files, or any format
that InDesign can emit (JPG, PNG,
PDF, etc.).
InDesign Server is the ideal
composition engine for online editing,
as it has all the features of the most
robust composition engine in
existence.

Silicon Designer is a platform for
creating online editing experiences.
It is not intended to replace InDesign,
but rather to facilitate editing of
InDesign documents through a web
interface that is very easy to use.
Many use cases in both B2B and B2C:
from a grandmother making a greeting
card, to a salesperson making a
pricing change, to a franchise tailoring
collateral for their location.
By using templates created by
professional designers, mere mortals

Constraint vs. Freedom is the primary
decision in defining user interface.
On the one hand, if you aren’t a designer, it
may be dangerous to allow design decisions
such as changing font and color.
On the other, advanced users may well want
to have unlimited creative freedom.
Silicon Designer can cover the gamut from
locked-down “text only” edits to complete

Silicon Designer is a module for editing
documents, built with modern web
standards and technologies such as Angular
and RESTful services.
It can be contained in shopping carts,
workflow systems, asset management
systems, or any form of web portal.
We can also interface with other systems in a
modular fashion: for example the image
gallery can access multiple DAMs, stock
photos, or social media, or variable elements
can pull from external data sources.
We offer Designer as cloud-based, on prem,
or hybrid.
