2. Participating in Primary Science ESA195
There are 3 workshop groups for Primary Science. These are noted on
your unit outline as A, B & C. You need to attend the workshops and also
to participate in all of the requirements that will be posted on this Wiki at
the beginning of each week… Also make sure to read the Unit Outline.
I have taken the liberty to rename the workshop groups Aurora, Blast-off
and Cosmos and also to provide a picture for each. These names are
inspired by the theme for this years National Science week…
Astronomy – Science without limits
As you move through this module your group will be responsible for
planning and teaching an activity at this years UTAS Science Fair. To help
the organizers, who will in turn be helping you with your Science Fair
preparation, you are encouraged to select a name, picture and colour code
to identify your group and to be a shared resource…more later.
Don’t forget to complete the first task for Assignment 1. To do this you need to fill
out one of the blank tables on the Wiki page labeled …Task 1
3. Given the colours in this photo green seemed to be the obvious choice
for group A - the Aurora group.
If you see anything green on the Wiki it is for group A.

4. B is for Blast-off, which I know would entice any 8 year old.
Blue is the colour code for the B–group.
If you see anything blue on the Wiki it is for group B.

5. C is for cosmos – which includes the lot…
The colour I have chosen for the cosmos is orange. If you see
anything orange on the Wiki it is for group C.

down until you find a blank table and fill it in.

Safety first… and always
Take your teaching cues from what is around you…
most of your needs are not far away
Listen to children… they have lots to tell you
Take a big picture view… but be flexible to the
opportunities of the moment
National Science Week… it can provide a year long
focus
Introduction to Primary Connections… think about
BOTH the content AND the teaching
8. Feel free to pop by any time for a chat…I am in
Room 521 all day Thursday and Friday.
