Rubric for Assessment of Digital Work 
 
Guidelines for assessment: 
 Please refer to the level descriptors (http://j.mp/dwlevdesc) to become familiar with the level 
criteria.   
 Make a copy of, or print, the level descriptors for each student. 
 After each piece of digital work highlight & date the criteria the student achieved on their level 
descriptors.   
This should guide the student to see what skills to focus on for next time. 
 Record the point value achieved on the record sheet (http://j.mp/dwsturec) and assign a final 
level according to the total value.

Digital Work Assessment Rubric  © Jewish Interactive 2013      Rubric for Assessment of Digital Work    Guidelines for assessment:   Please refer to the level descriptors (http://j.mp/dwlevdesc) to become familiar with the level  criteria.     Make a copy of, or print, the level descriptors for each student.   After each piece of digital work highlight & date the criteria the student achieved on their level  descriptors.    This should guide the student to see what skills to focus on for next time.   Record the point value achieved on the record sheet (http://j.mp/dwsturec) and assign a final  level according to the total value.

Digital Work Assessment Rubric  © Jewish Interactive 2013  Level Descriptors  Level  Digital Skills  Creativity  Content  Originality  1    5 pts  Basic ability to use a website  to produce digital content  through input of information  such as go animate or  PowerPoint. (1)  Ability to put in photos or pictures (1)  Abiility change font/colour (1)  Basic outline understanding of subject area,  perhaps with some incorrect information (1)  An idea based on another or taken  from an input information site and  text is cut and pasted. (1)  2    22 pts    Good general ability to use  interactive web tools and  apps to create digital  presentations (2)  Uses tools like spellchecks,  fonts and sound. (2)  Good use of a variety of technical media.  (2)  Integration of two dimensional media. (2)  Good use of two of the following: colour,  imagery, music or sound to enhance the  creation. (2)  Good understanding of subject area with  reference to actual facts or figures. (2)  Use of correct Hebrew terminology and  phrases written in English. (2)   Displays beginning of a deeper  understanding. (2)  Some original input through  photos, pictures (2)  Some original input through sound  or animation. (2)  Use of a mixture of technologies in  one format to produce an original  entry such as labelling a video. (2)  3    33pts    Very good use of technology,  mixing a variety of skills such  as recording, labelling,  inputting information and  design elements. (3)  Use of digital tools such a  screen capture, movie  maker, animation, musical  compositions (eg garage  band), apps and software.  (3)  Very good use of effects, animation,  illustrations – both 2D/3D and a variety of  fonts and colour and good use of  placement and highlighting facts. (3)  Visually engaging throughout and holds  interest of viewer through changing  scenes and backgrounds or good use of  characters/symbols. (3)   The product flows and has a distinct style  that is linked throughout. (3)  Very good subject knowledge with factual  references to text and quotes from Torah  sources. (3)  Evidence of a deeper understanding of the  topic or moral. (3)  Correct Hebrew/English spelling of words  and good vocabulary and Hebrew font is  used for some Hebrew words. (3)  Very good use of imagination,  mixed media, and original  animations or characters to  produce something never seen  before. (3)  Use of original lyrics, music or  script. (3)  All unoriginal content attributed to  owners and designers. (3)  4    40pts    Outstanding use of a variety  of technologies to create a  multiplatform product that  engages the viewer and  encourages opportunities to  interact with the digital  creation. (4)  Outstanding creativity displayed in the  product through design and animations.  (4)  Colours, activities and text all work  seamlessly and engage the viewer  throughout. (4)  Product is finely edited and flows well,  with an introduction, middle and  conclusion. (4)  An outstanding level of subject knowledge is  displayed through rich textual quotes,  sources and accurate facts. (4)  Deeper knowledge is clearly displayed  through the digital creation and one is left to  ponder or reflect after watching. (4)  All information is originally written, with  exceptional vocabulary and correct spelling  and all Hebrew is written in Hebrew font. (4)  The digital product is original in  many ways and leaves a lasting  impression on the viewer/user. (4)  It interactively engages the viewer  and is full of independent work. (4)  All unoriginal content is attributed  to designers/creators, although  most is original. (4)
