TYPES OF DRAMA
TRADEGY - IS A FORM OF DRAMA BASED ON 
HUMAN SUFFERING THAT INVOKES IN ITS AUDIENCE 
AN ACCOMPANYING CATHARSIS OR PLEASURE IN THE 
VIEWING. 
EXAMPLES: ENDLESS LOVE, THE BOY IN STRIPED 
PAJAMAS, & DONNIE DARKO.
COMEDY - IS ANY DISCOURSE OR WORK GENERALLY 
INTENDED TO BE HUMOROUS OR TO AMUSE BY 
INDUCING LAUGHTER. 
EXAMPLES: CRAZY STUPID LOVE, 21 JUMP STREET, & 
21 AND OVER.
FARCE - IS A COMEDY THAT AIMS AT ENTERTAINING 
THE AUDIENCE THROUGH SITUATIONS THAT ARE 
HIGHLY EXAGGERATED, EXTRAVAGANT, AND THUS 
IMPROBABLE. 
EXAMPLES: MADAGASCAR, THE HANGOVER (I,II & III) 
& RUMOR HAS IT.
MELODRAMA - REFERS TO A DRAMATIC WORK THAT 
PUTS CHARACTERS IN DANGER IN ORDER TO APPEAL 
TO THE EMOTIONS. 
EXAMPLES: FOREST GUMP, CITY OF ANGELS, & 
BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN
