GMU Students Partner with OLLI to Revamp Campus Presence
New employees bring diverse skill set and expertise to non-profit as it continues course
of expansion
(Fairfax, VA - February 22, 2016)- This Tuesday, the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute
announced the appointment of Jennifer Daniel as Public Relations Coordinator. Daniel
and five other women joined the public relations team February 18, 2016.
In her new position, Daniel is responsible for monitoring media coverage,
conducting research, locating photography and video services, and organizing events to
garner visibility for OLLI. Daniel and her team will work to showcase OLLI to the local
community, but more specifically the GMU community. Daniel plans to strengthen the
relationship between OLLI and GMU to ensure that the university recognizes and values
its partnership with OLLI. Additionally, she hopes to create an official mentorship
program with OLLI members and Mason students. “We have aggressive goals to lay
down a solid social media base for OLLI to help them reach out to GMU students,” said
Margot Koppier, a fellow public relations coordinator.
Using her knowledge obtained from leadership positions, internships, and other
communication courses, Daniel will work closely with OLLI to create and promote
measurable awareness of their organization. “I am thrilled that I received this opportunity
to work so closely with such an amazing organization, Daniel said. “As someone who has
lost two grandparents to dementia, I understand how important it is for retired individuals
2. to stay intellectually, physically, and socially active. I look forward to increasing OLLI’s
visibility, especially to millennials who might not view OLLI as an asset: in the future,
and now.”
