2. The timeline was extremely short - two weeks, in fact.
The client also asked 6 Group to construct likely organisational structures and examples of the types of
executives in the global market that the organisation should aim to hire, if they were to embark on the new
business venture.
6 Group has worked in the LNG sector since it was established in 2006 and holds a wealth of knowledge and
contacts which continues to build to this day.
Through extensive market research conducted by our Research function, we collated information of how
different operators structured their respective organisations. 6 was also able to provide a comprehensive list
of every major LNG Exploration & Production project, terminal project and plant project in the world - and
detail at which stage each project was.
Subsequently, we mapped the HR requirements against each project stages to determine which projects
would prevent the client from securing certain talent and when this would likely happen year after year.
Further to this, we produced a comprehensive talent blueprint of senior executives through to discipline-
specific experts across the LNG and similar industries from which a transfer of skills would be successful.
This allowed us to provide a sample of outstanding profiles of the types of world-class individuals the client
would need to make an immediate impact in the LNG industry.We also included the indicative remuneration
packages for the client to benchmark their own remuneration packages against.
This report, together with the proposed organisation charts, were passed to the the organisation's Senior
Executive team and were used in conjunction with a leading global management consulting firm to finally
determine the structure of a new Global LNG Business. Following this, 6 Group was asked by the client to try
and secure as many of the 8 Leadership positions as we could.
We developed a detailed briefing document detailing the strategy and structure of the new business and set
about engaging with candidates around the world. All candidates underwent a comprehensive competency-
based assessment before being formally shortlisted.
OUTCOME
Within a 3-month period we were able to secure 5 of the 8 Leadership roles with 3 positions being filled
internally.We placed theVP Portfolio & Strategy,VP Performance & Operating Model, Head of Project
Services, Head of Estimation & Project Director for the company’s first major LNG Project – a $50billion
project in East Africa.The client aims to be an LNG world-leader within 5 years.
