INTRODUCTION TO WEB DEVELOPMENT
Web development is the building and maintenance of websites; it’s the work
that happens behind the scenes to make a website look great, work fast and
perform well with a seamless user experience.
Web developers,do this by using a variety of coding languages. The languages
they use depends on the types of tasks they are preforming and the platforms on
which they are working.
Web development skills are in high demand worldwide and well paid too –
making development a great career option. It is one of the easiest accessible
higher paid fields as you do not need a traditional university degree to become
qualified.
The field of web development is generally broken down into front-end (the
user-facing side) and back-end (the server side).
Web Technologies used in website
HTML
CSS
JavaScript
DBMS
React
PHP
HTML
 HTML stands for Hyper Text Markup Language
 HTML is the standard markup language for creating Web pages
 HTML describes the structure of a Web page
 HTML consists of a series of elements
 HTML elements tell the browser how to display the content
 HTML elements label pieces of content such as "this is a heading",
"this is a paragraph", "this is a link", etc.
STRUCTURE FOR HTML
CSS
 CSS stands for Cascading Style Sheets
 CSS describes how HTML elements are to be displayed on screen, paper, or in other
media
 CSS is easy to learn and understand, but it provides powerful control over the presentation of
an HTML document.
 A CSS Syntax rule consists of a selector, property, and its value. The selector points to the
HTML element where CSS style is to be applied. The CSS property is separated by
semicolons. Value pair that is defined for the specific selector
STRUCTURE OF CSS
DBMS
 Database management system is a software which is used to
manage the database. For example: MySQL ,Oracle, etc are a
very popular commercial database which is used in different
applications.
 DBMS provides an interface to perform various operations like
database creation, storing data in it, updating data, creating a table
in the database and a lot more.
 It provides protection and security to the database. In the case of
multiple users, it also maintains data consistency.
React
 React is a free and open-source front-end Javascript library for
building user interfaces based on UI components. It is maintained
by Meta (formerly Facebook) and a community of individual
developers and companies. React can be used as a base in the
development of single-page, mobile, or server-rendered
applications with frameworks like Next.js However, React is only
concerned with state management and rendering that state to
the DOM, so creating React applications usually requires the use
of additional libraries for routing, as well as certain client-side
functionality.
PHP
1. PHP is a server-side scripting language designed specifically for web
development.
2. It is open-source which means it is free to download and use. It is very simple to
learn and use. The files have the extension “.php”.
3. PHP code is executed in the server.
4. It can be integrated with many databases such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server,
MySQL, PostgreSQL, Sybase, Informix.
5. It is powerful to hold a content management system like WordPress and can be
used to control user access.
6. It supports main protocols like HTTP Basic, HTTP Digest, IMAP, FTP, and others.
PHP SYNTAX
JAVA Script
1. JavaScript is the world’s most popular programming language.
2. It is used to develop mostly interactive web applications.
3. JavaScript can be implemented using JavaScript statements that are placed within the {
<script>… </script> } HTML tags in a web page.
4. JavaScript is a lightweight, cross-platform, and interpreted scripting language.
5. It is well-known for the development of web pages, many non-browser environments also
use it.
6. JavaScript can be used for Client-side developments as well as Server-side developments.
7. JavaScript contains a standard library of objects, like Array, Date, and Math, and a core
set of language elements like operators, control structures, and statements.
