2. What are web tools?
Ever wondered how you can easily communicate online and electronically?
Well this is made possible by what web specialized referred to as “web tools”.
It enables web programmers to test their codes in creating websites. These
tools are used to test the interface of a website or web application. Web
development tools come as browser add-ons or built-in features in websites
and web applications.
This Power Point Presentation will focus more on the tools involved with web
applications.
3. WEB 1.0
Web 1.0 was the first stage in the creation of the World Wide web.
Techopedia explains that it is made up entirely of web pages connected
by hyperlinks. Just like any other stages in web it was created for a
common information space in which people can communicate by
sharing information. However, it is a one way communication. It is used
by businesses to share their information to the people. People can only
visit this sites but they cannot participate.
Examples: Personal websites, Corporate websites, Yellow pages,
Alibaba, Britannica Online, Netscape,mp3.com, amazon
Britannica Online
• Britannica Online has a search
engine feature where viewers
can type what they are looking
for to get the information.
• The website does not allow any
more direct communication with
it’s audience:
4. Example continues: Bank South Pacific official website
is an example of Web 1.0. Their
audience (customers) can go onto
the page and get information on
their services. There is no
interaction with any
representative of the company.
Steve Job’s personal
website is also
another example of
a Web 1.0 . It
functions the same
as a cooperate
website. His
audience visit the
sites for information
only. There is no
interaction.
Amazon is an online
shopping website.
Viewers will just
click on buttons on
their preferred
product, pay using
credit card. No
direct
communication
takes place.
5. WEB 2.0
• Social websites in which social networking sites hold prominent place in users’
online activity. It is an open source, which provide users with a greater ability to
influence the web.
• Example:
Blogs, Facebook, Twitter, Wikipedia, Yahoo, YouTube, skype, Moodle Cloud, LinkedIn
etc..
Examples:
YouTube is a good example of Web 2.0. On
your left you can see the number of likes and
shares as well as comments. Pretty much the
web is influenced by users.
6. Facebook is
another
example of
web 2.0. This
platform is
entirely
influenced
by users.
Moodle Cloud is a teaching material. Teachers and students interact with each
during forums and chats.
LinkedIn is a social
media platform
where professionals
keep in touch with
each other through
commenting,
chatting and sharing
posts.

7. To conclude;
The main differences between Web 1.0 and Web 2.0 are:
Web 1.0 has very little interaction between sites and its users. We would say
Web 1.0 is more like a “physical booth” where users receive information
without being given the opportunity to post reviews, comments, and
feedback. They read what they have been given by the websites. The user
does no really have a choice.
Web 2.0 allows interaction between web users and sites. Users
communicate more freely with each other. It allows participation,
collaboration, and information sharing between site administrator, the user
and other users as well.
