Spring/Summer
Catalog 2013
Peotone Park District
Where Fun Begins...
We are very excited with the programs we have this summer.
There is soccer, tennis, volleyball, softball and wrestling camps
being offered. Additionally, a sand volleyball league is being
formed for youth and adults. The Park has installed two
permanent bean bag boxes just west of the tennis courts. All you
need to do is bring your own bags. Movie night is back again this
year and hopefully the weather will cooperate!
The construction on our PARC facility and Pre-School is moving
along slowly, but work is being performed. We are still in need of
volunteers for both of our projects. If you are interested in
helping, please email the Park at peotoneparks@sbcglobal.net.
I would like to say “Thanks” to all the volunteers who
continuously show up each and every time we need help. Thanks
also to the Christ Community Church members for coming out
again this year to plant flowers, weed and spread mulch in all of
our Parks. Your help is greatly appreciated.
For the past five years it has been my pleasure to have a wonderful
board and staff to work with and a great community to work for.
Thanks.
Barbara Schultz, Director
Letter from the President
As President of the Peotone Park District Board I have had the
opportunity to work with many wonderful people throughout our
community. Thank you to everyone who has stepped up to donate
their time and talent to the Park. With the help of the community,
the Park continues to improve.
This April the Park District was sad to accept the resignation of
Geraldine Pierce from the Park Board of Commissioners. Mrs.
Pierce served the Park District for 16 years and helped improve the
Park with her various efforts. Geri will be greatly missed here at
the Park and the entire Board joins me in
saying “Thank You”.
Bill Karczewski, Park District Board President

LINCOLNWAY SPECIAL RECREATION
ASSOCIATION
The Peotone Park District is a member of the
Lincolnway Special Recreation Association. This
organization offers many programs of adaptive
recreation for individuals with disabilities through a
special cooperative agreement that includes
Frankfort, Manhattan, Mokena, New Lenox, and
Peotone Park District. LWSRA programs are for
individuals from pre-school through adults who are
in special education classes or who have
recreational needs not met by regular park district
programs. At least one trip is planned per year.
Special populations being served are learning
disabled, physically impaired, multiple
disabilities, or those with other special needs.
LWSRA now offers a day program for adults with
special needs who may either be in transition
between high school and day training/job
placement, or those who are looking for a way
to fill idle weekday hours. This program stresses
social and occupational skills, with a trip into the
community each week. You may contact the
LWSRA office at 815-464-2811 for additional
information. If you would like to receive a LWSRA
program brochure, please contact the Park District
at 708-258-3343 or the LWSRA office. You can
also visit the LWSRA website at: www.LWSRA.org
INCLUSION
LWSRA understands that not every person with
a disability needs to participate in special recre-
ation programs. LWSRA offers inclusion as one
of their services. If your child needs an inclusion
aid to participate in a Park District program, please
contact the Park District office at 708-258-3343.
You will be required to complete forms and have
them submitted to LWSRA for processing. Please
understand that LWSRA will do their very best to
provide an inclusion aid, however, due to staffing
restrictions, they are unable to guarantee an aide.
Please remember that all LWSRA programs are
available to residents that utilize the Peotone Park
District. However, participants residing outside the
Village of Peotone limits will be charged the out of
district rate.
GIVE THE GIFT EVERYONE WILL
APPRECIATE
Planting a tree is a wonderful way to
commemorate certain events such as wedding
anniversaries, the birth of a child and to remember
a loved one. Not only will you and your family
appreciate such a gift, but the community will as
well. You are adding to your park’s beauty as well
as the environment’s stability. Each tree requires
a donation for $250. As a donor, you may select a
tree (or trees) from a list. A plaque commemorating
your donation will be displayed at the park on a
permanent display.

Park District Brochure the Final Copy

  • 1. Spring/Summer Catalog 2013 Peotone Park District Where Fun Begins...
  • 2. We are very excited with the programs we have this summer. There is soccer, tennis, volleyball, softball and wrestling camps being offered. Additionally, a sand volleyball league is being formed for youth and adults. The Park has installed two permanent bean bag boxes just west of the tennis courts. All you need to do is bring your own bags. Movie night is back again this year and hopefully the weather will cooperate! The construction on our PARC facility and Pre-School is moving along slowly, but work is being performed. We are still in need of volunteers for both of our projects. If you are interested in helping, please email the Park at peotoneparks@sbcglobal.net. I would like to say “Thanks” to all the volunteers who continuously show up each and every time we need help. Thanks also to the Christ Community Church members for coming out again this year to plant flowers, weed and spread mulch in all of our Parks. Your help is greatly appreciated. For the past five years it has been my pleasure to have a wonderful board and staff to work with and a great community to work for. Thanks. Barbara Schultz, Director Letter from the President As President of the Peotone Park District Board I have had the opportunity to work with many wonderful people throughout our community. Thank you to everyone who has stepped up to donate their time and talent to the Park. With the help of the community, the Park continues to improve. This April the Park District was sad to accept the resignation of Geraldine Pierce from the Park Board of Commissioners. Mrs. Pierce served the Park District for 16 years and helped improve the Park with her various efforts. Geri will be greatly missed here at the Park and the entire Board joins me in saying “Thank You”. Bill Karczewski, Park District Board President Welcome to Summer at the Park!
