2. Personal Life
Selena was born July 22,1992 in Grand Prairie,
Texas. She is the daughter of Amanda Dawn
and Ricardo Joel Gomez. She is Mexican on
her dads side and Italian on her moms side.
Her family does catholic everything and goes
to a catholic church. Her parents divorced
when she was 5. Her mother married Brian
Teefey in 2006.Selena was homeschooled for
a while and then earned a high school
diploma.Feburary 27, she met Justin Bieber at

3. Early life
Selena began her career as a child actress.
When she was little she was on Barney and
Friends. She had minor roles on other TV
shows. Her career started when Disney
Channel discovered her in 2004. Guest
appearances on Disney shows got her own
show Wizards of Waverly Place. It quickly
became the most popular show on the
network. After that she got roles in movies and
a singing career. She started recording songs
for her own Disney projects.

4. Adult Life
Selena plays the piano, drums, guitar, and sings.
She has been popular from 2002 – 2012. Her
occupations are an actress, singer, and
fashion designer. She formed her own band in
2009 and signed a contract with Hollywood
records. They released their debut album Kiss
and Tell in 2009. After her shows final season
she focused on her band and recorded
another album When the Sun Goes Down in
early 2011 and was released later that year.

5. Hero
She was the first ambassador for the Ryan Seacrest foundation for
love and support to kids that have diseases. She visits hospitals
around Boston, Dallas and Orange County. She encouraged
teens to learn more about the 2008 presidential candidates.
Selena participated in the St. Jude’s Runaway for Life benefit.
Also, she is the ambassador for Do something.org with the
charity Island Dog which is to help dogs in Puerto Rico. She is a
spokesperson for State Farm to raise awareness of being a safe
driver. In October 2008 she was UNICEF’s spokesperson for the
Trick-or-Treat campaign for people to raise money on Halloween
to help kids around the world. Went to Ghana in 2009 for a week
and helped kids who didn’t have homes and proper care. She
went to an interview with the associated press to bring
awareness to Ghana. Selena raised 700,000 dollars for the
UNICEF campaign . Finally, Selena donated 1,000 dollars worth
of school supplies to schools in Los Angeles that don’t have a lot.

6. Why she is a hero
I think Selena Gomez is a hero because she
helps people she doesn't even know around
the world and some of those people really
need help and she comforts them.
