The document discusses the communication system of the HS-748 aircraft. It provides an overview of the internal and external communication systems. The internal system includes an intercom system and public address system. The external system uses VHF and HF systems. It describes the basic structure of the HS-748 including its dimensions and capacity. Devices used for communication on board include VHF, UHF, and V/UHF transceivers.

3. Abstract:
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited(HAL),Kanpur is an government
sector works on Aviation techniques. Aviation techniques
basically comprises Fighter planes, Transport aircraft etc.
The HS-748(AVRO) is a transport aircraft which
have only for Defence sector. The communication system of HS-
748(AVRO) consist some basic parts and components i.e. Internal
and External communication and so on.
4. Introduction:
The “Hawker Siddeley HS 748” is a medium-
sized turboprop airliner originally designed by the British firm Avro
in the late 1950s as a replacement for the now-aged DC-3s then in
widespread service as feeder liners.
380 aircraft were built by Hawker Siddeley till now.
HS-748 aircraft was started from 1980 for Indian Air Force.45
aircraft have been overhauled till March 96.
HS-748 is a 40+2+2 seater medium haul turboprop passenger a/c, at
present repairing & overhauling of these a/c’s are going on.
5. Introduction Cont…
Communication part of HS-748(AVRO) consists some
basic parts i.e. Internal and External part of AVRO.
Communication system quite different by basic AVRO’S.
Communication system of HS-748(AVRO) in Internal and
External have also some parts and components which we
will discuss on at Communication system of HS-
748(AVRO).
7. History of HAL :
Late “Walchand Hirachand” at Bangalore set up “Hindustan Aircraft
Limited” in December 1940 in association with the Government of
Mysore as a private Limited Company.
In June 1942 the Govt. of India took over the Management of the
company.
“HINDUSTAN AERONAUTICS LIMITED” is a leading aerospace
company of India engaged in Design, Manufacturing and Overhaul of
a variety of Aviation Products from Basic Trainer Aircraft to highly
sophisticated Fighters, Bombers, Helicopters, Transport aircraft, their
power plants, avionics, system accessories and other aerospace
products.
10. About HAL Kanpur :
Kanpur division of HAL is now known as Transport Aircraft Division
(TAD).
HAL TAD specializes in manufacture and overhaul of medium and light
category Turboprop Aircraft.
TAD Kanpur has developed extensive facilities for repair, overhaul and
modification of the aircraft.
Over the year it has vastly developed its capabilities and is today considered
a pioneer in the field of manufacture and overhaul of transport category
aircraft in the country. The plant accommodates 73500 sq. meters and the
total strength of Kanpur division employees are 2200.
11. Mission of HAL :
“ To become globally competitive aerospace industry while working
as an instrument for achieving self reliance in design manufacture &
maintenance of aerospace defense equipment's and diversifying to
related areas, managing the business on commercial lines in a climate
of growing professional competence”.

16. Communication system of HS-748(AVRO) comprises 2 parts i.e.
Internal communication and External communication.
Basically the Internal communication System and External
communication system also have 2-2 parts.
Internal communication system parts is Intercom System and Public
address system.
External communication system parts is VHF and HF.
VHF system uses the line of sight propagation technique.

18. Devices used in HS-748(AVRO) :
VHF Transceivers (COM-104A) :VHF transceivers (COM-
104A) is a remotely mounted airborne VHF communication set.
This transceiver provides amplitude modulated wireless
communication in the frequency range 118.000 MHz to
135.975 MHz
Technical Specs. :
*Frequency range : 118.000 MHz to 135.975 MHz
*Channel spacing : 25 KHz
*Total No. of channels available : 720
*No. of present channels : 4
*Range : Air to ground two way communications can be had
*For a distance of 220 Km over radio horizon ranges.
*Supply voltages : 27.5 DC nominal
19. UHF Transceivers (COM-150A) :COM-150A is an airborne UHF
communication transceivers. It belongs to new generation state art with
complete solid state technology. The function of the equipment is to
provide two way communications on AM (Radio Telephone) in the
frequency range 225.000 MHz to 339.335 MHz in 25 KHz increment.
20. V/UHF Transceivers (VUC 201A) : VUC-201A provides radio
frequency reception and transmission of amplitude modulation
(AM) signals on any of 2240 channels in the 100 to 155.975 MHz
of very high frequency (VHF) band or 7000 channels in the 225 to
399.975 MHz of ultra high frequency (UHF) band in 25 KHz
increment.
Technical Specs. :
*Frequency Range : 100-155.975 MHz (VHF)
*Channel spacing : 25 KHz
*Modulation technique : Amplitude modulation
*Guard band : 238-248 MHz
*No. of present channels : 20
*Range :air to ground and air to air two way communication.
21. Conclusion :
HS-748(AVRO) is a transport aircraft which is used
by defence. It can carry maximum load as well as
high speed.
HS-748(AVRO) is most usable transport aircraft that
is used by Indian Air force.
It is most low expense Aircraft.
