By the end of this session C.Ps would be able to
 Discuss and share the characteristic of good
teacher
 Link these characteristic with their own life
 Make these characteristic part of their own
teaching.
Professional
 “Teachers are born, not made.”
 It is important to know which approach to teaching works
best for you and for your class. Ask yourself the right questions.
 able to take account of what learners already know and can
do
 able to build on their learners’ interests
 able to assess the learners’ understandings, stage and needs
 able to use appropriate resources to stimulate interest and
facilitate learning
Competent
Competent teachers never think that they know each and
every thing of their subject and there is no need of them to be
prepared before teaching the class.
knowledgeable in their subject area(s)
well prepared to meet learners needs
Consult various references to teach his subject
Help and mentoring other teacher in his area
Flexibility
 This is the sixth characteristic linked by study participants to
successful teaching. Indeed, any job in early childhood
education demands that you be able to deal well with change
and unexpected turns.

 We ought to enjoy, not complain about, the challenges
students give us.
 Good teachers try not to be cynical or negative about their
students or else cast themselves as victims. We need
challenges and there is none if all we have are smart, self-
motivated, hard-working, wide-awake students; these don’t
really need to be taught.

 Creative - Effective teachers are very resourceful
and inventive in how they teach their classes.

 Developing low cost and no cost materials

Admit Mistakes
 Admits Mistakes – Effective teachers are quick to apologize to
students when an error was made.
 Admit his own mistakes
 Don’t repeat mistakes again and again
 Let the students to admit their own mistakes and let them to rectify
Example (1): When a student is mistakenly accused, the teacher is willing to apologize to the
student.
Example (2): The teacher is willing to make adjustments when students inform the teacher that
there was material on the test they were not told to study or when errors are made in grading.
Example (3): The teacher is willing to give students an opportunity to redo a project if she did not
explain an important step in the assignment.

A role model is a person who inspires and encourages us
to strive for greatness, live to our fullest potential and see
the best in ourselves.

  • 5. Professional  “Teachers are born, not made.”  It is important to know which approach to teaching works best for you and for your class. Ask yourself the right questions.  able to take account of what learners already know and can do  able to build on their learners’ interests  able to assess the learners’ understandings, stage and needs  able to use appropriate resources to stimulate interest and facilitate learning

Competent Competent teachers never think that they know each and every thing of their subject and there is no need of them to be prepared before teaching the class. knowledgeable in their subject area(s) well prepared to meet learners needs Consult various references to teach his subject Help and mentoring other teacher in his area

Churchill  We ought to enjoy, not complain about, the challenges students give us.  Good teachers try not to be cynical or negative about their students or else cast themselves as victims. We need challenges and there is none if all we have are smart, self- motivated, hard-working, wide-awake students; these don’t really need to be taught.

Admit Mistakes  Admits Mistakes – Effective teachers are quick to apologize to students when an error was made.  Admit his own mistakes  Don’t repeat mistakes again and again  Let the students to admit their own mistakes and let them to rectify Example (1): When a student is mistakenly accused, the teacher is willing to apologize to the student. Example (2): The teacher is willing to make adjustments when students inform the teacher that there was material on the test they were not told to study or when errors are made in grading. Example (3): The teacher is willing to give students an opportunity to redo a project if she did not explain an important step in the assignment.
