2. CAMERA
The camera we used was a standard DSLR which was a Nikon D3100.
It was extremely useful as we were able to film in HD and had very
good sound quality which was important especially to pick up the
conversation between David and Sophie. We were also able to get all
the shots we needed for the opening with the lens. As it is a DSLR
camera, we were able to use the lens to focus more on the foreground
which helped us achieve a more professional product.
3. POST PRODUCTION –
IMOVIE
During post production, the first piece of
software we used was iMovie which we used to
edit our film opening. iMovie allowed us to split
clips, manipulate footage, crop footage, add
music and sound effects & add in transitions
such as cross fades. We were also able to detach
the audio once we had imported it back into
iMovie after putting the titles on using LiveType.
Using iMovie was important as we were able to
put the footage we’d filmed into a coherent
order to produce a continuous edit and we were
also able to add effects and change the
colouring of the footage.
4. POST PRODUCTION -
LIVETYPE
To add titles to our opening we used a program
called LiveType. With LiveType, we could create
titles using a range of fonts, font sizes and
animations. We were also able to place our fully
edited film opening in the background and add
our titles in at the right time (e.g. at 1:34 mins).
Using LiveType meant we were able to add
effects onto the titles which we would not have
been able to do in iMovie and it allowed our film
opening to fit our chosen genre better.
5. POST PRODUCTION - GARAGEBAND
In our opening we wanted to use two different pieces of music in the background so we
decided to use GarageBand to edit both these tracks together. With GarageBand we were
able to mix multiple tracks together to create more interesting background music, which
we would not have been able to do in iMovie as it would only let us add one piece of
music in the background. We could mix 2 tracks together and also time the music to be
louder and softer at certain points. This helped us to achieve a more effective use of music
and we could easily use more than 1 piece of music.
6. POST PRODUCTION – CLIP
CONVERTER
To add music to our opening we used a
website called Clip Converter. Using Clip
Converter we could download music to
add in to our opening. This was important
as we would not have been able to add
music to our opening.
