Hardworking, forward thinking, and
charismatic are three words that come
to mind when describing myself. Within a
professional environment, I believe these
qualities are what make up a successful
architect - along with the firm the architect
is representing. I’ve also been referred to
as “the ultimate salesman” by several of my
collegues, stemming from my sales career
beginning at the age of 17.
I excel in the following programs:
_Revit _ACAD

_Rhino _Grasshopper
_Sketchup _Spotify
I am also proficient in the following:

V: Architecture’s Influence on Growth
Masters Thesis Project: Vertical Farming
Portland, OR, USA
My thesis was intended on discovering how plants grew within a controlled environment, utilizing passive strategies, all within an
urban setting. However, I found myself growing with each discovery and incorporation of project elements. This was the first time
I utlized the Rhino program and it’s plug-in for Grasshopper, so there was a lot of growth within my toolbox of known programs.
The overall concept was to provide a source of local and healthy produce for the surrounding area, as well as provide a sustainable
and unique living experience along side the ‘farm.’ With the project focusing on organics, I sought out natural patterns to replicate
within the structure and formation. To accomplish this I found Voronoi diagrams and the Fibonacci Sequence to the best frames of
reference. However, imitation and not duplication is the name of the game; thus I translated the Voronoi into triangulated Deluaney
Meshes, and took the ratios of Fibonacci and created the final product. This project also made me think of the business side of the
project, and therefore my building program incorporation expanded as well. Feel free to ask any questions about my thesis as I spent
all of my time and energy for a whole year on discovering the project and myself as an architect.
The location was perfect for many reasons. The site
was nearly surrounded with public transit and bicycle
paths, making it easy to use for the locals. As well as
a tourist center located under a very popular historic
district square, making it a great tourist spectacle.
With a short distance to the river, a water source
had been found to passively
supply the building.
Plan V
eVolo Skyscraper Competition 2015
Studio Submittal
For my first semester of Graduate School our professor
instructed us to find a competition to enter. My focus for
competitions was to find something in relation to my Thesis
topic. My thesis topic being Vertical Farming: Architecture’s
Influence on growth. The eVolo competition allowed me to push
the boundaries of what I thought I could achieve, therefore it was
perfect.
Project Abstract
Vertical Farming is often thought of as a pipe dream. Either too
expensive or too impractical for present times. What I aimed to
do was to make a futuristic building that would be a symbol
for the growth of humanity. To show that the Agricultural and
Architectural worlds can coexist. Therefore I wanted to separate
the functions through form and space, but unite them in the
singular placement.
Utilizing my familiarity with Revit, I drew up may iterations of the
building form without worrying about the digital translation. After
I switched digitally I went through 5 phases of the digital model,
hence Plan V - along with V for Vertical Farming.
After I modeled the building in Revit, I switched to Rhino to
correct and manipulate the model further. Rhino’s interface and
materials took the model just that extra step further. After the
model was ready in Rhino I rendered in Maxwell and finished up
with a lot of post processing in Photoshop. Further work will be
done to the project as the due date is January 26th, but I am
proud of the work that came about thus far.
TOO LONG DIDN’T READ;
A Vertical Farm project, eVolo Skyscraper competition, Revit,
Rhino, Maxwell, Photoshop.
The Image above is of my third year Crossroads Center in an unsafe
neighborhood in Chicago. I wanted to design a building with thick
concrete walls and no side windows to protect the people inside. To bring
in natural light I created an elaborate glass ceiling coated with PV film.
Modeled in Revit post and processed in Photoshop.
The Bottom image is of a third year literary center [Stacks] in Glasgow,
Scotland. I wanted the building to show its purpose from the interior and
exterior, thus a trombe wall system was incorporated to provide warmth,
indirect lighting, and to look like a stack of books. Each floor a new
chapter; a new style.
Modeled in Revit.
The images above are from my fourth year high rise project, Canton
Tower, based in San Francisco. It was the first project where we had
to work with partners, and of this scale. The existing building was
a Cantonese Dim Sum restaurant, so we wanted to pay homage
to it. My partner and I wanted to focus on the port aspect to
San Francisco as it was very similar to the historical culture of the
Cantonese area of China. Thus a ship form took shape, our logo
which was based on the building turned out to be the Chinese
symbol for person.
Modeled with Revit and post processed in Photoshop.
