2. ROMAN EMPIRE
The Roman Empire covered all of the
area of the Mediterranean Sea,
Western Europe, and England. It
lasted from 2000 BC to 500 AD

3. CALLED “LONDINIUM” BY THE
ROMANS
Built along the Thames River.
Had a wall around it.

4. THE OLD ROMAN WALL
The ancient Roman wall is still visible in
downtown London today.

5. A ROMAN COIN
Archaeological finds in London uncover many
Roman objects every year.

6. ARCHAEOLOGY OF LONDON
• Every time a building is torn down, an
archaeological excavation must take place.

7. MANY ITEMS ARE FOUND IN THE
ARCHAEOLOGICAL DIGS

• If you worked in an archaeology lab, how would
