Ms Jana Motczinski, born on 27 February 1986 in Stralsund, was a student in the field of
Business Administration and Engineering at the University of Applied Sciences Stralsund and
worked in our establishment from 3 March 2008 until 30 September 2008 as a research student.
The TRW group is one of the biggest companies in the automobile supplier industry with 66,000
employees worldwide and a turnover of 14 billion US dollars. At the Laage site, with a total of
590 employees, gas generators are produced for the manufacture of air bags.
The topic of the degree thesis was:
"Methodical lnvestigation of Gas Wastage during the Filling of
Pressure Gas Containerc for Hybrid Airbag Gas Generators"
As part of the degree thesis, the options for reducing gas wastage during filling were worked out
and their feasibility investigated. The wastage was catalogued and assessed according to its
effectiveness. Using theoretical and practical investigations, remedial measures were defined
and implemented in a team. ln order to visualise the current consumptions and wastage, an
intranet-based display was created, that enables the responsible technicians to track the
condition of their equipment online and to take preventative action accordingly. The capture of
gas consumptions and the representation of the filled and lost quantities was also automatically
displayed on the lntranet.

Ms Motczinski during her work gained insight into operational routines and worked together with
various departments. ln doing so, she demonstrated rapid powers of comprehension and carried
out the duties assigned to her very independently and always to our utmost satisfaction. She
displayed a high level of enthusiasm and flexibility and reacted at short notice to necessary
changes of the framework conditions.
With her likeable and friendly demeanour, working with Ms Motczinski was extremely pleasant.
