2. Television and Film Industry
• My target industry I wish to work in is the Television and Film industry
which I have studied at university, I believe it will increase my chances
of getting work within the industry whilst also giving me experience in
a number of roles.
• Through the short films I have made in University and the experience
in a number of roles from the course I study my main focus for work
in the industry is through Camera operating. I want to work for a
production studio/Company and I am open to many roles to get any
experience that is offered. A strong interest of mine is to work within
sport and media as these are two of my strongest passions.
3. When I finish university the job opportunities in the industry will be entry level jobs
such as:
• Camera Trainee
• 1st/2nd AC
• Runner
These roles will then give me experience for in the future to work as a camera
operator and even a DOP
• There are opportunities that I have been looking into for after university that are
training courses in a specific style of camera operating for example Steadicam
operator
• Graduate jobs
• Internships
JOB PROFILE EXAMPLES / SKILLS SET
NEEDED
4. Skill set needed
• Creative eye
• Focus/Drive
• Patients
• Knowledge of equipment
• Team working ability / motivation
• Industry experience
• Responsibility
5. Strengths
• I find that the research I have done for my work inspires me in new
ideas and concepts, also has given me a better overall picture of the
industry I will be going into
• I pick up using software quickly / designing (Business cards)
• The research done for this unit benefits me greatly, which I can then
document in the blog thus can reference back to it in the future
• I was able to team up with another individual at university who
animates and designs into helping with my business cards this
cooperation is something that I will be doing in my future of working
within the industry
6. Weaknesses
• I tend to update my Tumblr blog in bursts not regularly
• I need to document more of my research on the blog not only small
parts
• I should start blogging the updates on how my projects are
progressing on other units on the course that are relatable to
platforms such as the showreel
• Should write some notes on my inspirations and the
techniques/styles they use
7. Research – Business Card
I began my research by focusing specifically on the creative media business cards and
taking note of there clever yet sleek designs. I particularly thought the use of aperture
would be a great image to use for my own logo/business card. One thing I really noticed
is that these types of business cards catch the eye and stand out, so I have put thought
into the colours I will use and the layout of the card itself.
8. Logo Design
Design process from initial ideas to final designs. I am really
happy with my final design it represents the industry I want
to go into the role I most enjoy whilst having a great colour
scheme, I believe it has a simple yet effective style.
9. Business card development
Me and a animation student used Photoshop to put together a layout and design for a creative media
business card. I loved the idea of a 2 coloured scheme layout which I think looks quite smart. I also came up
with a design for a pointer which incorporates a play button, this constantly relates back to my course and
industry.

11. Research Showreel
• I have researched showreels from cinematographers and camera
operators to see the type of footage they place into their showreels,
also looking at the style and pacing.
• Here are two examples of showreels that interest me
Lawrence Fish - https://vimeo.com/128641823
Peter Greig - https://vimeo.com/65071775
12. Showreel plan
I have begun planning my showreel picking
out some work from previous projects I have
completed most of it coming from work I have
made in the past 2 years including upcoming
films, showcasing the work I have been
involved within the camera and producer
department (DOP, Camera operator,
Producer).
Avid Media Composer will be the software in
which I will edit it on.
13. Tumblr Blog
• http://jamesgreenough.tumblr.com/
• I chose a simple Tumblr layout so I
and viewers can find information
easily
• The Tumblr blog is a great way of
documenting and giving updates on
projects, research, skills, interests
and showcasing work.
• It is also a great tool to show the
processes and how your work has
developed for example my business
cards and logo designs
14. What next?
• Create Showreel
• Improve on CV
• Maybe create a social media account such as Instagram?
• Look to implement my logo design and colour scheme onto showreel
and CV
• Keep updating my Tumblr
I still have quite a few things to do but am happy with what I have done so far
