2. Concept
• Gatsby’s is an upscale cocktail bar with dance floor and stage for
the entertainers we’ll have in the establishment. Inspired by the
Glitz & Glam of the Roaring 20’s, Gatsby’s will have that elegance
behind it with a modern flair. Jay Gatsby is a character of mystery,
sophistication, class, elegance, and excitement. Gatsby’s
atmosphere will engulf customers with these feelings while they
are enjoying high class cocktails and tasty.
• Hours of operation are Monday – Wednesday 8 PM – 2 AM,
Thursday – Saturday 8 PM – 4 AM
3. Location & Target Market
• Location: New York City, NY
• The reason behind choosing New York City is because since the
book The Great Gatsby took place in New York City, it only felt right
that a bar named after the main character is located in NYC.
• The types of customers I’m trying to attract are middle to upper
class college students, along with customers ranging from 21 – 40
yrs. Old. The club atmosphere will hopefully attract the young and
sophisticated college students, and since we’re located in New York
City, we aren’t going to be having Vlad in our speed rails. This
cocktail bar will have a nice selection of spirits that should provide
high-end cocktails. Our customers are those who are willing to
spend a decent amount of money on some high-end cocktails and
an experience they haven’t had yet.
4. What Makes Gatsby’s a Hot Commodity?
• Since we’re designing the bar behind the concept of the book, the
business name fits in perfectly into the concept. Design elements of
the bar will be inspired by the book. Drinks are named after the
author, characters in the book, and some New York inspired
cocktails.
• Hopefully the name will attract people who have read the book,
but at the same time, if anyone has attended a 20’s themed event,
maybe they’ll be interested in coming to the bar. We’re hoping also
that it attracts people with how people got to Gatsby’s house in the
book. All these New Yorkers were attracted to this house because
of the extravagance of Mr. Gatsby’s party and the mystery behind
him. No one ever met him, but they always were at his house. My
customers should want to know “who this Gatsby is”.
5. Special Events, Drink Specials, and Entertainment
• Special Events
• Jazz Night on Thursdays.
• On New Year’s Eve, just like in the book, we are going to have an over-the-top party with
a champagne toast at midnight, live entertainment, etc.
• The Great Gatsby was published on April 10, so on that day, all drinks will be half-off.
• Drink specials: Happy Hour is daily from 10 PM – 12 AM. Drinks are $4 off
and food is $3 off.
• Entertainment: We will have a DJ Monday – Wednesday, and Friday –
Saturday. We will have a jazz band on our Jazz Nights which are Thursday.
