2. Colour Scheme
• My colour scheme attracts my audience by using both typical
male and female colours; green and orange. These aren’t
extreme colours and are more likely to attract both genders
than using for instance; pink and blue.
• The font colours are also tied in with my colour scheme using
mainly white, but also using green and orange.
• The consistency throughout the magazine keeps the
authentic look and reassures the reader that this magazine is
professional.
3. Models
• I’ve used both male and female models, again to attract both
a male and female audience.
• The two main models are both of a male band. I’ve used
them as they are considered hot to indie rock females, and/or
males.
• They will also attract males as they are a new well
recognized band.
• I’m attracting indie rock readers by the clothes the models
are wearing aswell as this clearly shows what genre and
style of band they are and what this magazine represents.
• I’ve also included female models on my front page as this will
attract males and/or females.
4. Freebie
• I have included a free Velvetine poster to attract readers as
previous research suggests that this has a big impact on
whether they buy a magazine or not.
• It will also attract Velvetine fans as they will want to buy it for
the interview inside and also the poster. I know that I also do
this and buy a magazine specifically for a freebie or if a band
that I’m a fan of is on the front cover.
5. Plugs and puffs
• The cover lines I have chosen to put on the front of my
magazine are mainly of bands/artists of which are featured in
this magazine.
• I’ve also stated ‘Free Velvetine poster inside’ to attract buyers
who want the poster.
• ‘Live music!’ will attract readers who like to listen and read
about performances and live music. The puff I have used for
this is green splatters, this will attract readers as it looks fun
and entertaining.
• I have advertised ‘Download 2012’ which is a (fictional)
festival which will also attract readers who have hobbies like
going to festivals, gigs and listening to live music.
6. Artists/Bands
• I have included 8 different artists/bands on my front cover.
I’ve chosen to use so many as it will attract a wider range
of audience. Whether they only like one artist or multiple
artists, it will entice them to buy this magazine when they
are a fan of the featured artist/band.
7. Font
• The font throughout my magazine attracts my audience as
it isn’t a formal font which could intimidate some readers.
It looks more interesting and entertaining rather than an
important document or informal piece.
• The font throughout the magazine is consistent which
pursues the reader to realise that this magazine is
professional.
