Working Title:
Fashion print
Audience:
The audience would be younger adults / older teenagers (~16 - 28). The targeted gender
would be men as it should be designed as a men's fashion magazine. The outfits
showcased will have a more masculine look to them so this will cater to similarly
masculine men. The product would present itself to the ABC1 social grades focusing on
the upper – middle class as many branded / designer clothes are showcased that would
appeal to people who value materialistic gain. Men like to look well-groomed and
presentable which could establish a sense of confidence or dominance which are
common traits men like to achieve.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
Throughout the year I have used photoshop multiple times to create game worlds,
animate, create adverts etc. I plan to use photography as well as a mixture of my
photoshop skills to create the magazine front cover and double page spread. I have
recently learned how to cut objects from and image, as well as edit them and other layers
with filters and image adjustments and use clipping masks. I intend to use these skills to
create a uniquely designed magazine with a fresh, new look to it trying not to make it look
too bland. My last project felt very empty and I want to try and make this project feel as
lively as possible.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
In this project I plan to create a magazine front cover and double page spread that covers
branded and designer fashion. I will be using one model that I will photograph myself to
showcase a variety of different outfits. The outfits should feel more “out there” than typical
fashion and stand out however they should keep a masculine feel as to market for the
majority. There should be clear differences between each page as to draw attention to
each segment (e.g. One picture covering a page with an eye grabbing title, A collage of
smaller images accompanied by collection marketing etc). I will need to research different
covers and double page spreads looking at styles, colour combinations and the layout of
images and text.
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
I plan to analyse my work as I go looking at production experiments, research, etc and
offering to myself improvements and areas to work on as the project goes on. At the end
of the project I will make some broader judgements on how my work turned out and what
my time management was like as well as technical and visual qualities.
