4. A reminder about R5
⢠There are just 4 main âmaster reportsâ: platform, database, title, and item
⢠Master reports contain a lot of information covering various metrics (user actions counted) and
attributes (info about the content)
⢠Master reports can be filtered to show limited âviewsâ of the data which are more manageable
⢠COUNTER have defined a set of âstandard viewsâ
⢠pre-set filters
⢠most common uses cases
⢠suppliers must provide

16. How does this compare with Release 4?
JUSP title master report filtering and database standard views 9 July 2019
Release 4 DB1
⢠4 metrics: Regular Searches, Result Clicks, Record Views, Automated/Federated Searches
⢠Which to use? It depends on the databaseâŚ
⢠Difficult to make comparisons and calculate cost per use
⢠What about full-text databases?
Release 5 DR_D1
⢠5 metrics
⢠Total_Item_Investigations â combines result clicks and record views without duplication
⢠Searches_Regular â user actively selected the database, or it was the only option
⢠Searches_Automated - searches conducted through a discovery service or by an automated search agent
⢠Searches_Federated - user simultaneously search multiple databases hosted by the same or different vendors with a single
query from a single user interface
⢠Total_Item_Requests â NEW database metric that can be used to evaluate full-text databases
