WORK EXPERIENCE:
 Total 33 years in oil and gas industry in pipeline in the field of corrosion
control and monitoring particularly in cathodic protection. Presently working in
GAIL (India) Ltd as Chief Manager (O&M) in Central Integrity Management
Group coordinating for effective working of CP system in GAIL pipelines.

 From 1979 to 1982 in Renusagar Power Company Ltd, a Birla Group Thermal
Power Plant in Mirzapur District as Assistant Engineer in the Operation of
plant and Electrical Maintenance of HT/LT transformers, switchgears, motors,
MCC’s, relays and other electrical auxiliaries of power plants.
 From 1982 to 1987 in Oil India Limited as Electrical and Cathodic Engineer
for the maintenance of Alternators, motors, DG sets, MCC’s, switchgears,
relays and cathodic protection system of 16’’ and 14” 1157 Km crude oil
pipeline from Naharkatia to Barauni.
 From 1987 to 2015 in GAIL (India) Ltd as DM, Manager, Senior Manager, CM
in O&M, Projects, Internal Audit looking after corrosion control and monitoring
specifically cathodic protection of GAIL pipelines.

 Inspection, testing, commissioning and maintenance of electrical equipment’s
such as Alternators, DG sets, HT/LT transformers, motors, protective relays,
MCC’s, switchgears etc at RPCL and OIL.
 Monitoring and maintenance of cathodic protection system of 16’’ and 14’’
1157 Km of crude oil, coal tar coated pipeline of OIL with analysis of CP data,

current requirement, power source data, AGB reading etc and rectification of
problems.
 Installation, testing, commissioning of PCP system and post commissioning
surveys such as CIPL and DCVG surveys of 36”, 30”, 24’’ and 18’’ HVJ pipeline
and coating repair.
 Monitoring and maintenance of PCP system of GAIL pipelines including repair
and replacement of pipeline coating, TRU/CPPSM, AGB, Polarization Cells, ER
Probes, Coupons etc.
 Refurbishment and revamping of Mumbai Region pipelines with replacement of
lines, coatings, sacrificial anodes, TRU’s, cables and other parts.
 Corrosion audit of GAIL pipelines across GAIL for finding gaps in corrosion
control of pipelines as per national and international standards such as NACE,
ANSI B 31.8, OISD, PNGRB, BIS and recommendations to bridge the gaps.
 Quality control in the pipe manufacturing, coating and laying as per QAP and
QMS duly vetted by PMC.
 Association with corrosion experts in the corrosion audit of GAIL pipelines and
analysis of corrosion monitoring data such as PSP (ON-OFF) data, current
density, CIPL, CAT and DCVG, AC and DC interference data etc and providing
solutions.
 Overall coordination and monitoring of CP system in GAIL pipelines as Central
Integrity Management Group member. The job involves formulation of CP
monitoring schedule, SOP’s, conducting training and workshop, providing
technical supports and required specifications etc.
ACHIEVEMENTS:
 Standardization of CP monitoring schedule as per OISD and PNGRB guidelines,
SOP for CP monitoring and technical specification of CP equipment’s and
components.
 Association with NACE India since beginning and attending its annual
international conference on corrosion (CORCON)
 Presentation of papers in NACE India conference, ASME and others on
corrosion audit, corrosion monitoring, quality management, risk management,
CP monitoring and CP surveys, CP problems and solutions.
 Coordination for establishing NACE India section in North Zone.
 Association with National Corrosion Mission for formulating strategy for
prevention of corrosion across all industries.
