National Immunization and Influenza Awareness Month
The following is a message from the Army Surgeon General, Lt. Gen. Patricia D.
Horoho:
August is National Immunization and Influenza Awareness Month. Vaccination
for influenza is the most important step you can take in the next few months to ensure
you are healthy this coming flu season. They are also vital in improving the health of
our Soldiers, Families and Retirees.
Army Medicine continues to play an important role in developing vaccines.
Our primary focus in developing vaccines has been to help keep our Soldiers safe from
disease when they deploy, thus ensuring a Ready and Healthy Force.
Command Sgt. Maj. Donna Brock and I thank all of you who have contributed to
this work to keep us healthy and for the contributions you will make tomorrow.
Finally, catching the flu can be extremely painful and uncomfortable. Remind
your Family and friends how important vaccinations are to their health. Take this
important step in making sure your Family and friends are Ready and Resilient this
coming flu season.
