PT1 Explain the following phrases ( 10 points each)
1."it is very likely that our students' brains have physically changed — and are different
from ours —as a result of how they grew up”.
Since we are now living in a society with advanced technology compared to the
society we had when we were students, brain development and processing of our students
now is advanced too. Mainly because that was the result of how they grew up. Having said
that, we as teachers must be prepared to lead them in the right direction as we go along
with innovation in technology.
2. “Our students have changed radically. Today's students are no longer the people our
educational system was designed to teach”.
Students are increasingly wired to handle the rapid dissemination of information.
Younger generations were raised with constant stimulation with easy access to the world’s
information at their fingertips. These trends will only accelerate in years to come as
technology pervades the inner-workings of society and everyday life. It only means that the
traditional methods of classroom education are outdated and ineffective for younger
students. They grew up with computers, iPads, social media, video games, and the
ubiquitous internet. It is very important that we have to p[repare ourselves in providing
younger generations with the best education by keeping their minds active and promoting
a love for learning.
3. “Technology is just a tool.In terms of getting the kids working together and motivating
them, the teacher is the most important.”
Technology provides teachers with various tools to engage and motivate the student
to work on assignments. But we need to make sure that this technology will not replace us
as teachers but we use them as a tool.
