A teacher is one of the most important people in a child’s life. A teacher doesn’t just
educate and share their knowledge and wisdom, but acts as a parent figure to help inspire
and motivate a student individually and academically. Yes, in life you are going to have to
learn a lot by yourself and through experiences, but a teacher is there to offer you a hand. A
teacher gives you faith, inspires the creative mind and implants a love for learning and Mrs.
Mary Ann Reyes, my geometry and algebra teacher at Santa Maria National Highschool, did
executed this with perfection.
I didn’t like my high school that much and it was very hard to find a teacher you can
connect with, but that changed when I met Mrs. Reyes. I was so happy that I had her twice
as a teacher throughout my high school years because she has so many qualities that are
admirable. She has a passion for teaching and is so empathetic, in which she loves helping
kids, academically and emotionally. She is so enthusiastic and engaging with every class she
teaches; it’s so hard for anyone to hate her. Her classes were so creative and organized that
I got all my work done while enjoying it. I can go on and on about her qualities, but there
are just so many admirable qualities about Mrs. Reyes and that is why she is my favorite
teacher.
The most important reason why I consider Mrs. Reyes my favorite teacher is
because she didn’t just send me home to do homework, she always sent me home with
something to think about that would inspire you to do better. Every child should have an
adult in their lives that cares about their education and if it isn’t your family, it usually is
the teacher. Mrs. Reyes truly cared about her student’s education. She pushed me to do my
hardest and she didn’t accept anything less than my best from me. Mrs. Reyes made me
realize how important education is and if you want to be successful you need to push
yourself, be confident and most importantly have a passion for what you are going to be
doing.
