- We know that train commuters will be equipped with wifi next year, and this gives BBC an opportunity to redirect and re-organize content to reach a new set of attention span of its audience. This project is also conceived based on another insight, and that is we love to multi task. We all very much guilty of this.
- Example would be if anyone were to travel from White Chapel (zone 1) to Richmond (Zone 4), that will let you watch part one of a feature film on BBC, or if you prefer to listen rather than watch, BBC will suggest an 18minutes classical piece on your way from Kings Cross to Campus.
- So I thought of TRAVEL TIME as a categorization element to reorganize content for tube commuters. Using a service where BBC will suggest what you can watch within that spent of time when you are commuting.
- We understand that the iPhone is a client, the service that BBC would provide will be a platform where commuters would be able to pre-plan their journey and get recommendations based on how much time it takes from getting from point A to point B.
- This journey planning, content recommendation service would not be limited to the tube network, but should be extended to daily train commuters on national railways and southeastern train journey.
- As you key in your departure point, the geo-locative map will appear, and when you’ve selected your destination, you click plan now.
- And the map will show you the distance and and also an estimated travel time.
- It’s quite simple, to familiarize yourself with the service, there is an about page and a section to learn more, alternatively this page will also be linked back to the demo page.
- The iPlayer button, is where you click to access suggested content.
- TubeStation, will give you recommendation based on travel time on the tube/or the train. This is where you can browse through content, ideally with your finger on an iPad, but here you can click the arrows on the right.
- The colored tabs allow to get more info about the content suggested and this is also where you click ‘PLAY’ to view.This journey planning, content recommendation service would not be limited to the tube network, but should be extended to daily train commuters on national railways and southeastern train journey. - An added feature to TubeStation that sets it apart from the iPlayer is the Diary page, where viewers can plan and pre-stream content and sync it seamlessly on their mobile client (be it an iPhone of an Android). When you get to this page, you get the view the tabs of the week, where you can view which suggested content you have picked. Looks like you haven select anything for Monday because when you click Wednesday,

- Same for Friday. To pre-stream you content you can drag and drop into the TIMELINE.
- This time line will be a sync feature to your mobile client, this is particularly useful for people who commutes daily and know exactly what time they will be on the train, each day.
