3. The animals can improve
the health of a sick person, they
can promote kindness in
children, they can comfort a
lonely person and many other
things.

4. Animal-assisted therapy (AAT) is a type of therapy
that involves animals as a form of treatment. The goal
of AAT is to improve a patient’s social, emotional, or
cognitive functioning. Animals used in therapy include
domesticated pets, farm animals and marine mammals
(such as dolphins).

5. Dogs are common in animal-assisted
therapy. Assistance dogs can assist people with
many different disabilities; they are capable of
assisting certain life activities and help the
individuals navigate outside home.

6. Horses are also oftenly used in assisted
animal therapy.
Hippotherapy can be used as a treatment
for people with physical or mental challenges.

7. Dolphin assisted therapy refers to the
practice of swimming with dolphins, but there
has been criticism because by taking dolphins
out of their natural environment and putting
them in captivity for therapy can be
hazardous to their well being.

8. Besides all these medical benefits, animals
are here to remind us that each of us needs
meaningful relationships and they can bring this
to us because of their devotion, intelligence and
loyalty.
