Product Development FAQ for the 4th Batch of the Techcelerator program. This presentation focuses on the User Interviews and MoScoW approach as a fast and qualitative way of taking decisions and delivering results.
2. What is Product
Management?
Product management is the practice of
strategically driving the development, market
launch, and continual support and improvement of
a company’s products.
3. How do you choose which
features matter? Tip
Develop all the features.
Spend all the money.
The users will love it!
4. User interviews
Develop your Customer Profiles.
Identify individuals who match those
profiles and who are available to
answer product related questions.
Story for illustration purposes only
5. 1. Ask well crafted
questions.
➔ Ask open ended questions
Avoid Yes/No answers
➔ Don’t offer options
Avoid asking people to choose
between two options, or answer one
specific prompt.
6. 2. Dig deeper with
the right follow-up
questions.
➔ Don’t paraphrase
It will ruin your research
➔ Example
Do: “You mentioned using the X
feature. Could you tell us more about
that?”
Don’t: “You mentioned this is hard.
Why?”
7. 3. Don’t mention
solutions until the
end.
➔ Never jump straight to solutions
instead of focusing on objective
research
You’re unlikely to get an authentic
answer about whether or not your idea
really solves a need.
8. MoSCoW Approach!
A simple way to decide on features.
MoSCoW stands for:
- Must have (or Minimum Usable Subset)
- Should have
- Could have
- Won’t have (but Would like in the future)
9. MoSCoW is used to
bring all
stakeholders on a
common ground.
10.
11. From outsider to star
Listen to your users.
Listen to your team.
Do not postpone decisions.
Do not make assumptions.
Less is better.
Good luck!
