Business keywords
The specific column (only one column can be in the list / library),
which collects all available tags in the console, integrates bi-
directionally with a standard feature of MS Office document
keywords (but unfortunately suggestions, when typing, are only
in the keyword space of the businesses ). You can configure the
columns (only in document libraries) so that the system
automatically moved defined terms in this attribute to the list of
its tags.

Metadata management
A new type of column that presents the terms of a given set of
terms (or selected its branches). It provides the option of
prompting and adding / reporting new term suggestions by users.
You can define a few such columns for the library / list. They can
be used in the mechanisms (this is new in SharePoint 2010) of
navigation hierarchy and key filters - they allow for easier filtering
elements (including a term hierarchy).

Tags
Mechanism independent of the company keywords and managed
metadata - it can be best described as the ability to describe list
items, documents or pages by any tags. While tagging (assigning
tags for exapmle to documents) the system suggests tags starting
with the given phrase and presents the tags assigned to that item
by other users. For ease of understanding the difference between
the available forms of tagging, the easiest way is to treat a
managed metadata as a taxonomy, and the tags and the company
keywords as a folksonomy.

Tag profile
Each tag has a website (something like My Site for the tag), which
presents basic information about it: where it came from (from
which set of terms or keywords), its synonyms or elements
described by the tag (this list is unfortunately built only on the
basis of tags - how to add an entry to the ad list and describe it in
Company Keywords space by the term, than this ad will not
appear on the tag site).

Searching
It has been already known that SharePoint scans the content of documents
and their metadata as well as attributes of list items, etc. And what about the
tags? Here, the situation is slightly more complicated. If we write the search
query "WSS", unfortunately we will not see it in document results which only
have the tag inscribed "WSS" - this type of search simply does not take them
into account! This happens because the tags are not features of documents,
and thus are not taken into account here. You can mark more advanced tasks
using GUIDA tag or a term, but it's complicated for the casual user. The novelty
in SP 2010, which is called a clarification panel (a mechanism allowing to
narrow the search results) and prompts us tags, it itself imposes whether it
will look for terms (managed metadata and company keywords) or tags - never
looks for both at once.

just like on tag website profile, this mechanism only operates on
the basis of tags.

My Newsfeed
User on My Site can be informed about the appearance of
components in the portal (documents / entries on the list), which
were described by interesting him tags (the user can specify them
on his page in the section of newsfeed settings). The important
information is that this mechanism works only on the basis of
tags.

Integration with MS Office
Adding Managed metadata column to the document library, the system
informs us that this will prevent from the document edit in older versions of
client applications - and in fact, for example, in MS Word 2007, the labels of
such columns, but without controls, allowing to edit tchem, appear in a
document information panel.
Quick Parts for company keywords and managed metadata work, but only the
former allow to edit them from the content level - the latter placed in the
content are read-only.
