Overall Message: The Internet and the Mobile industry share a joint future. We can do more working together --our joint interests and areas of joint concern about the challenges that lie ahead will grow together.
Internet usage and mobile data subscriptions have been growing hand in hand since the mid-2000s, when the evolution of 3G technology began to be implemented. Since 2010, active mobile broadband subscriptions began growing at an ever-increasing rate, in particular providing Internet access to many parts of the world that had limited ability to connect just a few years earlier.
Additional Data Points
Cisco estimates that between 2013 and 2018, Mobile Data traffic will grow at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 61% -- and by 2018 the total amount of mobile data traffic will comprise some 15.5% of all IP data traffic globally, up from 4% in 2013.
The future of the Internet and the future of the mobile industry are inextricably linked. . We can do more working together --our joint interests and areas of joint concern about the challenges that lie ahead will grow together.
Overall Message: The market is shifting towards data. How ready for the Internet are you really? We can do more working together.
Mobile Broadband is growing even faster than Mobile Phone penetration. Everyone recognized and was amazed by the quick uptake of mobile phones around the world (the dark blue line). It was one of the fastest growing technologies the world had even seen.
But even in its relative infancy, its easy to see that mobile broadband (the light blue line) is easily outpacing the earlier growth of mobile phones.
The Internet and data market over mobile is growing more quickly than most have imagined.
