This document discusses the history of facial coding from Darwin to modern automated systems, and how facial coding can now be used to analyze thousands of videos from around the world to measure emotional reactions and predict consumer behavior, providing insights to brands in as little as 48 hours. Facial coding captures subtle, unconscious facial expressions to understand perceptions of ideas and categories, and can show the likelihood of brand recommendations, purchases, and becoming a fan based on reactions measured.
