1. Yesterday was a Perfectly Awful Day
• The scale was friendly in the morning.

• I made believe I could indulge because my weight was down; I had skipped
breakfast, and I was eating salads.

• For dinner, I ate a controlled portion of fish, as usual.
• I also ate corn on the cob with butter substitute.

• I ate sautéed spinach (another veggie).
• I forgot that I sautéed the spinach with lots of oil.

• I had not done anything awful.
• But mayonnaise, bread pudding, hoagie, corn, and generous oil in the spinach
add up.
• The scale was not friendly this morning.
• One day of indulging undid several weeks of self-control.
• I regained what I had lost.

• So, yesterday was a perfectly awful day.
• It happens all the time.
• Too late, I heard my critical part point out:
• "You could have taken the cottage cheese on the salad bar."
• "You could have picked the melon."
• "You should have skipped the hoagie."

• "Yeah, Yeah, Yeah. So what. I did what I did."
• I gave myself these suggestions. (My inner helper helped).

• Regrets are a waste of time.

• Better yet, start right now.
• Look for healthy recipes.
• Broil fish or beef for dinner.
• Add simple salads and plain veggies to the next few meals.
