2. Styles
• I wanted to make my video an animated piece, thus meaning a lot of work went into
creating the different animals and backgrounds; some had been taken from Google.
Editing the video wasn’t all that difficult, except for the areas in which I had to add
the voice overs, if the animation was slightly too long or fast for the text I would have
to slow it down or cut parts out that I could have have potentially needed in my
animation.
• Most documentaries that are based on an animation have some sort of real life
content in it, i.e. a person making an appearance from time to time throughout,
however with mine I went against the norm and had no human content within my
video except for speech. I did this because I wanted my animation to be different
from others that have been created in that past.
• The colours I chose to use are all bright and go against the message of the video. I
chose to have bright “happy” colours because I thought that my video had quite a
deep message that I wanted to make people think about that I didn’t want to make it
a sad video to watch and put a downer on someone's day because of the message I
was putting across. I also wanted to make it younger viewer friendly.
3. Compare and contrast
• MEAT EATER WANTS TO INTERVIEW A VEGAN
• This video is very similar to my own as it gives visuals at the start of it; it is almost
documentary style because of this. The difference between my video and this one is
that the interviewee answers weren’t prepared, but more improv as they had been
pulled up on the street. This video, to me, could be seen as more interesting as it is
more of a debate as well as just an interview as there are two very different food
eaters speaking to one another; the meat eater being the one to be doing the
interview which is interesting in itself. Even though my video is similar from that
respect, as a listener you can’t hear my voice asking the questions to my interviewee,
only read them on the image on screen.

4. Compare and contrast
• DEALING WITH NON VEGAN FRIENDS AND FAMILY
• I feel this video is similar to the one I created (in parts). The fact it is an interview
helps with the similarities, asking similar questions but with less detail before asking.
The video is more formal than my own, because it is a real interview situation where
as my video is an animation that is friendly for children, however the comparison
video is more aimed towards adults. I feel if I made my own video similar to this one
it would have still gotten the point across as I would’ve been able to interview my
mum in more depth and ask her more about being vegan. However I feel the way I
have designed the video it keeps it more factual, with an interview with a vegan who
can explain my points further and it allowed me to be more creative with my work.

5. Strengths
• The strengths within my work are definitely the facts I have picked out, they are all
mainly from my own knowledge, confirmed when I went on Google to double check
that what I was saying was correct. The facts that involved figures I ensured were
checked several times on different sites, making sure they were accurate figures.
• I particularly liked having the interview in my production, especially with the
information provided from it was coming from my mum who is vegan herself. I
especially like that my mum isn’t biased and is able to argue her case as a vegan but
also know that her children aren’t vegan but not judge our decisions on our diets.
• Considering the time it took to create each shot of the animation sequences, I'm
happy with how most of the shots turned out; despite a few being different to how I
had imagined, most have been designed how I imagined they would be.
• One strength I feel I have with this project is that I was able to take gruesome facts
about the meat and dairy industry and manage to make the video child friendly
without it showing the harm the animals face on a daily basis. I felt I did this well as
when watching the animation it wasn’t obvious that it was a video about something
quite serious within the world but more looked like a childs animation thus making it
child friendly.
6. Weaknesses
• One thing I know that my work lacked was time taken to create some of the
animations. I feel that if I had more time to design these animations and properly
search images and/or create them myself it would have made my video look better.
• Other things that I would rather have in my video is more speech. I didn’t have all of
the speech I had written in my script in this video which I wish was in there, however,
again, due to time, I wasn’t able to include it all and create animations to match with
the speech so I worked with what I already had.
• Even though what I did within my video was different to other documentaries, I do
wish I had included some shots with a real person on them so viewers were able to
put a face to the vice they were hearing. An example of this is the interview with my
mum, instead of putting a picture, I wish I had put an actual video of her being
interviewed on my animation so it felt more personal to the viewers.
• I do wish I had some real footage of these animals in captivity, not enough to make
people not watch or turn off the video, but enough to give insight to how these
animals are treated. I wish I had included real images instead of attempting to draw
them myself as I don’t feel they have the same affect as you would seeing it in real
life.
7. Action Plan
• If I were to do this project again, or something similar, I would give myself more time
to create animated pieces so that they didn’t look pixelated when watching the final
video edit. I would also, like I say in the previous slide, add more real people to the
video so that the audience have that connection to the person and take the video
more seriously.
• I feel that because my videos are all person based and there is no animation at all in
them, I feel I did well to create this kind of video and that definitely motivates me to
want to include some form of animation in my videos in the future, so this project
has really helped me develop my creative and design skills greatly.
• I’d also want to incorporate my own knowledge to a video in the future, i.e. make it
more of a vlog style as that is what I’m used to and would like to extend my
knowledge in that field further instead of sticking with what I already know and
attempting to learn new things when I can expend on my current knowledge.
