The Objective
The objective is to create a conducive environment for learning. In the course of
taking over 80 students through a seven-month rigorous training on Reproductive
Health, HIV & AIDS Prevention and Care, we identified a Class that needed urgent
Renovation works. The ceiling had collapsed and the Classroom’s learning appeal has
diminished due to wear out.
Consent and Approval
The consent of the State Coordinator NYSC Abuja and the Principal Junior Secondary
School Asokoro was sort to carry out the project. Approval for execution was
subsequently granted.
Project Plan
To successfully carry out the project, the extent of renovation was assessed and cost
estimates made. Afterwards, revenue was generated by the corps members through
CBN staff, NAPTIN staff and other private individuals. The project required these
materials: Ceiling boards, woods, nails, paints, wall fillers, paint brushes and skilled
labour for execution.
Renovation Proper
The renovation work started on the 26th day of April 2012 till the 5th day of May
2012. The carpentery work took seven (7) consecutive days to complete while painting
was about two (2) days. After the work, the site was made good. The renovation work
came to a successful end on the 5th of May 2012.
Project Commissioning
The project was commissioned to use by the Principal with the attendance of the
teachers, students and the media. At the occasion, certificates were awarded to
students who took part in the National Reproductive Health, HIV/AIDS Prevention and
Care Training. The corp members also received awards for their contribution to the
school.
Media Coverage
The project was covered by African Independent Television (AIT) and Daily trust
newspaper.
