Lessons learned
• Trust is the bedrock
• Community and social relations improves trust
• Credit is important but repayment default rate can
be high without effective supervision
• Field Supervision costs can increase overheads
but manageable. OBs reluctant to invest and relies
more on trust.
• Introduction of imported hybrid varieties was a
game changer
• Increased productivity
• Spurred local development of hybrids

Lessons learned • Trust is the bedrock • Community and social relations improves trust • Credit is important but repayment default rate can be high without effective supervision • Field Supervision costs can increase overheads but manageable. OBs reluctant to invest and relies more on trust. • Introduction of imported hybrid varieties was a game changer • Increased productivity • Spurred local development of hybrids
