Lviv IT Arena is a conference specially designed for programmers, designers, developers, top managers, inverstors, entrepreneurs and startuppers. Annually it takes place at the beginning of October in Lviv at Arena Lviv stadium. In 2016 the conference gathered more than 1800 participants and over 100 speakers from companies like Microsoft, Philips, Twitter, UBER and IBM. More details about the conference at itarena.lviv.ua.

Exploratory testing is an approach to testing that emphasizes the freedom and responsibility of testers to continually optimize the value of their work. It is the process of three mutually supportive activities done in parallel: learning, test design, and test execution. With skill and practice, exploratory testers typically uncover an order of magnitude more problems than when the same amount of effort is spent on procedurally scripted testing. All testers conduct exploratory testing in one way or another, but few know how to do it systematically to obtain the greatest benefits. Even fewer can articulate the process. Jon Bach looks at specific heuristics and techniques of exploratory testing that will help you get the most from this highly productive approach. Jon focuses on the skills and dynamics of exploratory testing, and how it can be combined with scripted approaches.

Experimenting on Humans’ (or, ‘everything you want from an a/b testing system’). How do you know what 100 millions users like? Wix.com is conducting hundreds of experiments per month on production to understand which features our users like and which hurt or improve our business. At Wix we have developed our 3rd generation experiment system called Petri, which was open sourced. Petri helps us maintain some order in a chaotic system that keeps changing. We will also explain how it works and what are the patterns in conducting experiments that have a minimal effect on performance and user experience.

If you are writing automated through-the-GUI tests for a web application, you are in danger of creating tests that are more expensive to maintain than they are worth. With well-factored Selenium RC tests running in Junit or TestNG, you can keep your abstraction layers or "Lingos" -- small bounded bits of slang for discrete parts of the object model -- separate, thereby reducing the maintenance costs of your tests, and improving your sanity. This presentation is from a technical track webinar on: •How and why automated web app code gets so dang brittle •Why the expressiveness, readability, and fluency of your test code is so important to its maintenance cost •Some basic, useful OOD patterns for writing very expressive web app tests using Selenium RC, in Java and in C#/.NET •Some useful OOD principles to guide your design decisions, like keeping modules small, the SRP, DRY, "Lingos", and "Lingual Design" •Some OOD principles worth violating, frequently, when writing automated test code, because it's just very different from application code •How and why to prefer element locators like Id and Value attributes to xPath; how to keep xPath least brittle •An introduction to Domain Specific Languages (DSLs) built on top of Selenium RC, using FitNesse •An introduction to "fluent" Selenium RC testing using Scala Prerequisites include experience with Java or C#, and ideally some basic OOD familiarity (inheritance, composition, encapsulation, polymorphism). Kostiantyn Bokhan, a technical lead at N-IX, focuses on data science projects. He leads data science projects in several areas: Computer vision, NLP, and signal processing as well as consults clients regarding digital transformations with AI. When free, he conducts research in the deep machine learning area. Kostiantyn has been an associate professor and faculty member of several universities since 2002. His research focuses on machine learning, deep learning, signal, and image processing. He received a PhD degree in network and telecommunications systems with research in digital signal processing in 2013. He has served on the scientific committees and review boards of several conferences. Speech Overview: Applying machine learning to make business applications and services intelligent is more than just training models and serving them. It requires implementing end-to-end and continuously repeatable cycles of training, testing, deploying, monitoring, and operating the models. Continuous delivery for machine learning (CD4ML) is a technique that enables reliable end-to-end cycles of development, deploying, and monitoring machine learning models. There are a lot of tools and frameworks that can be used to implement CD4ML. One of them is Kubeflow. Our experience of using Kubeflow for implementing CD4ML for the manufacturing area based on Azure Kubernetes service will be described in this speech.
