This document compares the English philosopher Francis Bacon and the British philosopher Bertrand Russell. Francis Bacon was the first great writer of English philosophy and is considered the father of the English essay. He wrote 10 essays and helped establish the form of the chief prose writing in English - the essay. His sentences are also used as proverbs. Bertrand Russell was a Nobel Prize winner in literature. He wrote over 80 books and 100 articles and was known for his analytical and logical style of writing in modern English philosophy. He appealed mainly to intellect and conveyed his meanings in a plain manner without complex language or symbolism.
