 Multi-patient care is a skill using multi-tasking,
prioritization, and reacting to new stimuli
 Multi-patient care is not formally taught, but is
expected and subjectively assessed throughout
training for providers and nurses
 Serious games provides a easier mechanism than
mannequin-based simulation to simulate the
management of multiple patients

Background  Multi-patient care is a skill using multi-tasking, prioritization, and reacting to new stimuli  Multi-patient care is not formally taught, but is expected and subjectively assessed throughout training for providers and nurses  Serious games provides a easier mechanism than mannequin-based simulation to simulate the management of multiple patients 2

Background  Currently in Validation Study, comparing game performance / choices with:  USMLE Prep Scores / In-service Training Scores  General Video Game experience  Subjective Pediatric ED Evaluations  Multitasking Aptitude Test (MTAT)  Patient Efficiency in the Pediatric ED  Current cohort:  USC MS-2s, CHLA Pediatric Residents  CHLA Gen Peds, Hospitalist, EM physicians 4
