EMPORIA STATE UNIVERSITY NAMED ONE OF THE "BEST IN THE MIDWEST"
Emporia State University is one of 155 higher education institutions named to the âBest
of the Midwestâ section of the Princeton Reviewâs â2014 Best Colleges: Region by
Regionâ website feature. The 155 colleges chosen for its âBest in the Midwestâ list are
located in 12 states: Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri,
Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin. The Princeton Review
also designated colleges in the Northeast, West and Southeast. Collectively, the 643
colleges named to regional lists constitute about 25 percent of the nationâs 2,500 four-year
colleges.
The Princeton Review does not rank the 643 colleges in its â2014 Best Colleges: Region by Regionâ
list hierarchically or by region or in various categories. For the project, The Princeton Review asked
students attending the schools to rate their own schools on several issues â from the accessibility
of their professors to quality of their science lab facilities â and answer questions about
themselves, their fellow students and their campus life. Comments from surveyed students are
quoted in the school profiles on The Princeton Review site.
âAt the end of the day, everything we do is for our students,â said Dr. Michael D. Shonrock, president
of Emporia State University. âThey, in turn, are our greatest ambassadors.â
