"Most formal definitions characterize critical

rational, higher order thinking skills, such as

SAMR
‘The SAMR Model is a framework created by Dr.
Ruben Puentedura that categorizes four different
degrees of classroom technology integration.
The letters "SAMR" stand for Substitution,
Augmentation, Modification, and Redefinition.’

• While playing cricket, you are not scoring high
runs. Your problem has to be addressed as you
are a batsman and expected to score well.
• The trainer coaches you using SAMR as shown
in next slide.

The trainer instead of personally training you, sends you some videos
so that you can view and improve your performance.
Augmentation
Apart from Video, he also sends some resources in the form of links
so that you get additional information about the skills.
Modification
After watching the video, the trainer makes the learners play and
asks them to shoot their game and share the video so that he can
evaluate. Based on evaluation they can improve their performance.
Redefinition
The coach then wants them to play in simulated environment.

Accountability : Inside the team each member is assigned specific task. They must
execute their tasks assigned to them.
Structural execution: Clear road map on how to proceed and milestones to be
reached will be given, and the team must follow the guidelines.
Communication : Transparent, involving all must be done
Measurable goals : Each member of the team must cooperate to realize the goals
specified in the project

The project is to write web content for a website, implement SEO
and insert backlinks.
• Each member of the team is assigned specific tasks such as
writing web content for certain web pages using appropriate
keywords, implement SEO and insert back links by participating in
social networks, writing comments on relevant blog posts,
updates in social networks etc.
• Each member is provided guidelines and also the milestones
to be realized.
• The entire communication is made transparent.
• Last date for project completion is given after making sure
everyone understood the importance of their contribution.

Instead of word, the team is asked to use Google Docs /
Blogs
Substitution
They are asked to add relevant images, media to the content to
view how it would appear using preview option
Augmentation

• The team is asked to share their work (with appropriate
keywords) in Google Docs /Blogs so that the reviewer can review
and add suggestions that can be implemented.
Redefinition The participants can now create the content in video and audio forms.

What is Self Directed Learning?
According to Malcolm Knowles., Self-directed learning is a
process “in which individuals take the initiative, with or
without the help of others, in diagnosing their learning
needs, formulating learning goals, identifying human and
material resources for learning, choosing and implementing
appropriate learning strategies, and evaluating those
learning outcomes.”
