1. What is this Long COVID in Malaysia: A Longitudinal Prospective Cohort Study
about?
It is a study conducted by Ministry of Health Malaysia in order to assess the prolonged
symptoms and complications following recovery from COVID-19.
2. How do I enrol in this study?
You will receive a notification in your MySejahtera application and a SMS message if you
have tested positive for COVID-19 during the study period and are eligible to participate
in the study. You can assess the survey under “Things to do” in MySejahtera application
after you have received the notification.
3. Has the study been ethically approved?
Yes, this study has been approved by the Medical Research and Ethics Committee (MREC),
Ministry of Health Malaysia.
4. What is the purpose of the study?
The purpose of this study is to assess the prolonged symptoms and complications following
recovery from COVID-19. This research is necessary to improve the understanding of
persistent symptoms and long-term complication after COVID-19 infection hence
improving the management of those with long COVID.
5. What are my responsibilities if I decide to participate?
You will only need to answer our questionnaire under “Things to do” when you are tested
positive for COVID-19, 1 month, 3 months and 6 months after COVID-19 infection. You
will receive reminder in the forms of messages at 1month, 3months and 6 months after
COVID-19 infection.
6. Will there be potential risk and side effect of being in this study?
No. It will only take 5- 10 minutes to answer this study.
7. What are the benefits from my participation?
There is no direct benefit to you. However, your participation will help to improve the
management of long-term complication of COVID-19 infection.
8. Will my information be kept confidential?
All your information obtained in this study will be kept and handled in a confidential
manner, in accordance with applicable laws and/or regulations. When publishing or
presenting the study results, your identity will not be revealed.
