ARTICLE: Eight Guidelines to Powerful Coaching and Positive Relationships
by Monica McNulty
Secretary for ICF Colorado
As a professional life coach, my journey in coaching over the last 2 years
has been profound, and I’m excited to share some principles that have
been born out of my experience.
Many see coaching as focusing on clarifying priorities, removing obstacles
and accomplishing goals. Certainly these are some of the reasons why
people hire a coach. However, what I have come to understand, and have
experienced in my own life, is that the true power of coaching lies at a level
much deeper than goals and accomplishments. Life coaching is about
transforming my way of being in the world, and in relationship with others

Happy November! I want to take this opportunity to ask you "is there anything you need to do to
better take care of you?" We know that our health directly relates to our performance as coaches.
I encourage you to commit to doing one thing for your health that you know will make a difference
in your well-being. I truly see it as part of my job as a coach to stay healthy.
7. I have recently worked to eliminate sugar/chocolate from my diet. Now that took commitment
(especially during Halloween)! I cannot tell you all the benefits of this, including a better memory
and clearer mind! What will you commit to this November to increase your level of health so you
can be the best coach possible?
We are here to provide a committed, professional group that contributes great ideas, skills,
networking and knowledge to all of us who are members of ICF Colorado. Again I would like to
request if you have any ideas for attracting new members that you speak with me at the next
meeting. I wish each of you an amazing day . . . until the meeting. I look forward to seeing your
smiling face!
If you know other coaches out there, that are not members, please assist all of us and ask them
to attend a meeting, again the first meeting is FREE with the coupon on our site!
