3. Introduction
Solution overview
IBM SmartCloud Entry+ for System X (delivered as IBM Starter Kit for Cloud x86
Edition) is an integrated cloud management platform that is designed to be quickly
installed and operational. The IBM SmartCloud Entry application is implemented as a
lightweight Web-based application that runs as an Open Services Gateway initiative
(OSGI) application. It is installed as a pre-integrated software stack, and delivered as
virtual images that automate IT service deployment in a virtual environment. IBM
SmartCloud Entry provides resource monitoring and cost management for a cloud-based
architecture. In addition, a supplemental virtual server is created for Tivoli Provisioning
Manager for Images (TPMfI). TPMfI provides a simple way to discover, capture, store
and deploy virtual images and physical server images from a single repository.
IBM SmartCloud Entry version 2.2 supports management of VMware hypervisors only.
IBM SmartCloud Entry’s self-service capabilities simplify the process of performing
many common public or private Cloud operations such as:
• Provisioning and de-provisioning virtual servers (process known as deploying)
• Capturing a workload to create a new virtual appliance
• Starting up and shutting down virtual servers
• Resizing existing virtual servers
• Creating projects to give team-specific access to workloads
• Providing network configurations which set unique network properties to different
workloads
• Billing, accounting, and metering support
• Providing request and approval workflow support
Tivoli Provisioning Manager for Images (TPMfI) provides the following capabilities to
manage the virtual images created and utilized in IBM SmartCloud Entry+ for System X:
• Reduces labor costs by better managing “image sprawl”—Discover, capture, store
and deploy virtual images and physical server images from a single repository
• Optimizes server assets and reduces energy costs with anywhere-to-anywhere
server image conversions (Physical-to-Virtual, Virtual-to-Physical or Virtual-to-
Virtual)
• Improves your agility and flexibility through snapshot/restore of servers with
complete hardware independence

4. Understanding and using the guide
Use this guide to install and configure the IBM SmartCloud Entry+ for System X product.
This document is designed to supplement, not replace, IBM product documentation.
The document covers:
• Deploying or creating the IBM SmartCloud Entry+ for System X virtual servers
to an existing VMware environment
• Starting and validating the IBM SmartCloud Entry+ for System X virtual servers
Suggested additional reading and education
SmartCloud Entry+ for System X includes a number of IBM technologies. While it is not
necessary to be an expert on all of these technologies to install and run a simple proof of
concept environment, detailed expertise is important for the proper running of a
production deployment.
The following provides links to additional information and IBM education for each of the
included products. This not an all comprehensive list of resources. Additional information
such as user forums are available on the IBM www.ibm.com web site.

6. Component installation
IBM® SmartCloud Entry
Database installation
The default database used by IBM SmartCloud Entry is a Derby database for which there
are no prerequisite installation steps required. The default Derby database is
automatically created and resides in the IBM SmartCloud Entry Home Directory.
Optionally, IBM DB2 may be used by IBM SmartCloud Entry as the database application.
For information on how to download, install, and configure DB2, refer to its product
documentation available at http://www-01.ibm.com/software/data/db2/linux-unix-
windows/.
After DB2 is installed, you must create a DB2 database for IBM SmartCloud Entry. For
instructions, see Creating a DB2 database for IBM SmartCloud Entry section of the IBM
SmartCloud Entry Administrator Guide available at

Deploying the vApp
IBM SmartCloud Entry is shipped as a VMware vApp that can be deployed to an existing
VMware installation.
1. Using VMware vCenter, connect to the vSphere environment that will host the IBM
SmartCloud Entry guest.
2. Select the Host on which to deploy the IBM SmartCloud Entry vApp..
3. Click File → Deploy OVF Template...
4. In the Open dialog, select IBM_SKC_x86_App.ovf. Click Open.
5. On the Source section of the Deploy OVF Template dialog, click Next.
6. The details of the OVF file are displayed. Click Next.
7. If desired, change the default name. Select the Inventory Location for the IBM
SmartCloud Entry vApp. Click Next.
8. Select the datastore in which to place the IBM SmartCloud Entry vApp. Click Next.
9. On the Disk Format screen, ensure that Thick provisioned format is selected.
Click Next.

7. 10. Choose the Destination Network for each of the Source Networks. The OVF
contains two source networks that must be mapped:
Customer Network: The network that connects the managed (provisioned)
virtual servers with the general user network.
Management Network: The private network that is used for communication
amongst the IBM SmartCloud Entry virtual server, the VMware Virtual Center
server, and the TPMfI virtual server.
Click Next.
11. Enter the values to customize the IBM SmartCloud Entry deployment.
On the IBM SmartCloud Entry Configuration panel, enter or change the
following values to customize your IBM SmartCloud Entry installation:.
Managed Cloud host name: The host name or IP address of the VMware
vCenter installation that IBM SmartCloud Entry is managing
Managed Cloud user name: The user name used to connect to the vCenter
installation
Note: You must set the password for the Managed Cloud user name in the
cloud.properties file of the IBM SmartCloud Entry installation. Please refer
to the Configuring the Cloud manager section of the IBM SmartCloud Entry
Administrators Guide available at
https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/mydeveloperworks/wikis/home?

8. Secondary DNS suffix
On the Customer Network panel, optionally enable the network and supply the
required values.
Use Second Network: enables a second network adapter that can be
connected to a customer network when present. If it is not selected, a
second network will not be configured. In this case, remove the second
network adapter from the appliance in vCenter for better performance.
Use DHCP: configures the second network adapter using a DHCP server. If
this is unselected and the Use Second Network parameter is selected, then
the rest of the fields are required.
