15. Intercultural Dialogue - Highlights
Intercultural Dialogue was the theme of the IAU 2009
International Conference, held in partnership with Notre
Dame University – Louaize, Lebanon
The Role of Higher Education in Fostering Intercultural
Dialogue and Understanding
IAU collaborated on a number of projects with the Council of Europe (CoE)
- Participated in the CoE conference on: Universities as Actors of
Intercultural Dialogue in the Wider Society.
- IAU and CoE jointly edited the publication Speaking Across Borders: The
Role of Higher Education in Furthering Intercultural Dialogue – Volume 16 of
the CoE Higher Education Series

18. LEADHER Programme – Highlights
- Between 2008 –2012 : 30 LEADHER Projects, involving 52 different
IAU Member Institutions, in 35 Countries
- Each project involving at least one institution from a low income
country.
- Grant raised from €7,000 Euros to €10,000
- € 186 545.00 allocated to IAU Members
- Special project responding to needs of Haitian HE community – in
2010 and 2011. 4 projects undertaken for a total of €40,000
