• Eliminate the State Street to Gilbert Street
Diagonal Connection
▫ Original design closed State Street for the new I-74 piers
▫ New piers not constructed, so State Street can stay open
▫ Diagonal connection is no longer needed for staging
▫ Land occupied by the connection could become
developable
▫ State Street will need patching and/or resurfacing
▫ Ownership of State Street will transfer to the City

Access to the area between 11th and 12th Streets would be
via new US 67, south on 12th Street and west on State

State Street one way between 11th and 12th Street
QCA Spas and Adel would have right-in/right-out
entrances as they do today.

• Intersection of State Street and 12th Street
▫ May experience capacity issues in the interim condition

ramp
▫ Intersection often experiences delays now

• Calvert Drive to Remain Open Until I-74 Built
▫ If closed, traffic exiting businesses north of Mississippi
Blvd on 14th Street would need to detour north to
Central then back on 15th Street to access the downtown
▫ Existing traffic on Calvert Drive is light, however a
detour may cause confusion for drivers
• Parking
▫ Some parking lot spaces will be lost
▫ There is the potential to gain some spaces along
State Street.

some earthwork can occur to enhance character
and conditions (i.e. aesthetics, slopes &

• Possibility of selective thinning of existing tree
species/understory plant material
