● The growth of Islam after the advent of Holy Prophet ‫ﷺ‬ sparkled the golden
age of scientific discoveries
● Building on the wisdom of ancient civilizations, Muslim doctors pushed the
boundaries of medical science into bold new places.
● House of wisdom in Baghdad has important place in Golden age of Muslims.

Jabir ibn-Hayan

● His Full name was Abū Mūsā Jābir ibn Ḥayyān.
● He was the purported author of an enormous
number and variety of works in Arabic, often
called the Jabirian corpus.
● He is known as Father of Chemistry for
his work in the field.

Achievements of Jabir-ibn-Hayan
● Preparation of Nitric, Hydrochloric ,citric and tartaric acids
● He also invented a method of distillation and filtration.
● He paved the way to organized substance on the basics of its substances like Metal,
non –metals, Volatile substances and the laws of constant proportion.
● Pioneer of Applied Chemistry :- Preparation of Various Metals, development of steel,
dyeing of cloth and tanning of leather, varnishing of water-proof cloth, use of
manganese dioxide in glass-making, prevention of rusting, lettering in gold,
identification of paints, greases, etc
Al-Khawarizmi
(Mathematical Genius)
(780-847 CE)

● His Full name was Muḥammad ibn Mūsā al-Khwārizmī,
● The word algorithm is derived from his name.
● Al-Khwārizmī lived in Baghdad, where he worked at the “House of
Wisdom” (Dār al-Ḥikma) under the caliphate of al-Maʾmūn.
● Al-Khwārizmī’s work on elementary algebra,
Al-Kitāb al-mukhtaṣar fī ḥisāb al-jabr waʾl-muqābala
(“The Compendious Book on Calculation by
Completion and Balancing”),

● The first 'Al-Kitäb al-mukhtasar fi hisäb al-jabr wa)l-muqäbala’.
● The calculation of Integration and Equation) includes solving linear and quadratic
equations.
● He designed the subject of Algebra and Algorithm which was developed by others.
● He introduced Hindu-Arabic numerals, zero, and the decimal system to the Islamic
and Western world
● His Book “Image of Earth” He also made contributions to trigonometry, spherical
geometry, and map-making, using data from Greek and Indian sources.
Abdul Qasim Al- Zahrawi
(936-1013 CE)

Early Life
● He was born in Andulus, Spain.
● He was a court physician to the Andalusian caliph
Al-Hakam II and is considered as the greatest surgeon
in the Islamic medical tradition.
● His comprehensive medical text, combining Middle Eastern and Greco-Roman
classical teachings, shaped European surgical practices for over five hundred
years.
Achievements of Al-Zahrawi
 His famous work is Al-Tasrif, a collection of thirty a
medical Encyclopaedia spanning 30 volumes which
included sections on Surgery, Medicine, Orthopaedics,
Ophthalmology, Pharmacology, Nutrition etc
Book was written in simple language to make it easy to
understand for common men to do treatments.
He invented several surgical tools that will make surgery
effective
Ibn Sina
(Father of Medicine )

Early Life
● His full name was Abū-ʿalī Al-Husayn Ibn-ʿAbdallāh Ibn Sina.
● He was born in Bukhara (present).
● He Became Hafiz and practiced practical theory
● He continue to study int the field of science
● His famous books were “The Book of Healing and
”The Canon of Medicine”.
●He first is a scientific encyclopaedia covering logic, natural
sciences, psychology, geometry, astronomy, arithmetic,
and music.
●His second book was first year revealed in Year 1015. The
book consists of whooping ”1 Million letters”. It consist of
Medical treatments from many civilization across the
Globe it was big “Medical Encyclopaedia”
●His Major Contribution were:
1.Cancer
2.Tuberculosis
3.Spread of Disease through Water & Soil
4.Anaesthesia

Al Beriuni
(973-1050 CE)

Achievements Of Al Beriuni
● His Full name was Abu Rayhan Muhammad ibn Ahmad al-Biruni
● He determined the specific density of 18 types of precious stones and defined
the ratios between their density.
● He established the rule related to the specific density of the body.
● (Shadows) was one of most important Al- Beruni’s text which was an important
source of our knowledge of the history of mathematics, astronomy and physics.
