• FOR TO BE FREE IS NOT MERELY TO CAST OFF ONES’ CHAINS, BUT TO
LIVE IN A WAY THAT RESPECTS AND ENHANCES THE FREEDOM OF
OTHERS-NELSON MANDELA
• Racism: The marginalization and/or oppression of people of colour
• Race -Refers to the categories into which society places individuals on the basis
of physical characteristics
• People often associate racism with acts of abuse or harassment. However, it
doesn’t need to involve violent or intimidating behaviour. Take racial name-
calling and jokes
QUESTIONS TOBE ANSWERED/HYPOTHESIS
• Q1- Why do you think racism needs to be solved?
• Q2- What do you think about the impact of racial discrimination?
• Q3-Does racism contribute/cause moral distress, specifically as applied
to police and risk factors for police violence?
• Q4- Why do racists incidents happen?
• Q5-Why can’t I have my own views, even if you call them racist?
ANSWERS

What people around us say and do subconsciously influences the way
we think.

different ethnic backgrounds
Moreover, ethnic identity is understood as a collective moral property
There was a study, which asked more than 3,300 people about their
experiences
Adults are experencing

encouraging children anti-
racist development
GENDER

differs in that it pertains
specifically to racial and
ethnic understandings

Hispanic origin item that
was asked of a 5 percent
sample of the US.
Population

disproportionate number of
suspensions to amassing more
student debt, black students face
more barriers than their white peers
in education
• STATISTICS
RESEARCH ELEMENTS
METHOD IN WHICH THE
RESEARCH WAS CONDUCTED
ANALYSIS OF THE SURVEY
CONDUCTED
Question 1-5
• Although strict rules are there to fight racism in
educational institutions, it is equally hard to
implement them radically
• Colonialism has created Ethnic rivalries
• One of the most significant aspects of race in mental
health comes from race-related stressors
• Multiracial Americans are at the cutting edge of
social and demographic change in the U.S
• Respectful and tolerant societies are typically the
most harmonious
Question 6-10
• Trumps policy promoting racism in USA
• This lack of clarity has contributed to a
marginalization of anti-racism within
multiculturalism
• Racism in the United States traces negative
attitudes and views relating to race or ethnicity held
by various people and groups in the United States
• Intersectional discrimination has only recently been
recognised, at least in international forums as a
serious obstacle to the achievement of equality for
many marginalised women
CASE 2. KILLING OF
GEORGE FLOYD

and handcuffed
 While Floyd lay on his chest with
his cheek to the ground, Chauvin

unconscious, and bystanders
confronted the officers about
Floyd's condition

Nepali but the shop owner said
that Nepali and Chinese are the
same and are coronavirus carriers.
LIMITATIONS FACED

• Insufficient sample size for statistical measurement.
• Lack of previous research studies on the topic.
• Limited access to data.
• Time constraints.
• Conflicts arising from cultural bias and other personal issues.
ALL LIVES MATTER!
Y
Of human ignorance I am almost in despair
For racism is around me everywhere
But like they say sheer ignorance is bliss
Just like Judas betrayed Jesus with a kiss.
Some people carry their honour in a flag
And of their Nationality they brag
They feel superior and they differentiate
And against those who are different they discriminate.
So many people still judged by their race
For such there never ought to be a place
'A fair go' those untruthful words I do recall
There is no such a thing as a 'fair go for all'.
Though we live in a so called democracy
Of racism we never will be free
They judge you by where you come from and the colour of
your skin
For many equality and respect seems impossible to win
